I this is how I used to do it, back when I shot Mediterranean. It's a natural way to nock, I think.
    Very nice video, and instruction.

Love you videos, since I've discovered your channel I have been tempted to buy a similar bow.
Regarding this video, watching it multiple times, I think if there was a hunting or war broadhead on the arrow, , you would expose your bow hand and wrist to injury. But with field points looks good fun.
Thank you for your insights on historical archery 🙂👍

Have yet to have someone ask me this. It's easy, in a way, assuming you're not too concerned with a bit of experimental conjecture. It's sort of a stylized take on a piece of fashion that was discussed in a Byzantine Military manual by Nikephoros II, the Praecepta Militaria. It would've been called 'Fakeolion' by the Romans
He describes that most foot soldiers who lacked armor would wear thick caps of felt which were fastened in place by bands of cloth. You can use any cap that's historical to this period, (I happen to be using a Phrygian cap, though it's not really all that thick) and then take a scarf, in this case one that is plain in color, and fold it so that it's width is just short of the width of your hand. Take it behind the base of your head so as the bands are equidistant on either side. Then ,wrap one side over around your forehead going slightly upward so as to cover the base of the cap. Do the same with the other side, and meet the two ends of the cloth in the back and tie them together once, which will tighten the hold on the cap, thus fastening it in place. Then tie it over once or twice more in the same way to secure any loose hanging cloth.
Hope that inspires you to try one out.
