I've heard dozens of version of this but this is the best. Love the careful and thoughtful picking followed by the intensity of the sharp strums with that resonating of the higher strings. Fantastic. Happily subscribed.
@josiahdavidswim6363 sitting here in Dubai open tuning to G and watching your fretwork to figure it out and then noticed you're from my old hometown Halifax
Thanks so much! I will say that i put my own spin on it to get it to flow a little better for finger style so there are some differences but I hope it helps. I had the same problem when I was learning it so I sympathize with your plight, haha!
This is a precious and historical song in Ireland and it takes balls to sing it, but you’ve made a damn good fist of it my friend… well done, you’re a son of Éireann
I love this song and the story it tells. It’s a pretty challenging one to play and sing, but you blew me away. Your voice is so beautiful and has such perfectly accented emotion for the song. You took me to a special place in listening to this, and I hope you keep sharing your gift!
Very nice job. Thanks. First discovered this gem on Dylan's Good As I Been To You album. This is rather more angelic than the Bob version , but heats up towards the end. Must be a nightmare to remember all the words! 😅
2013. I just recorded with one microphone and didn't do anything to brighten up the sound of the guitar so what you hear should pretty close to what it sounds like
This is a great performance! Love the energy of the closing verses.

That’s wild! Small world eh? Haha
@@josiahdavidswim great performance looking at your chords is it in open G tuning as Paul Brady plays it .?
A fine rendition of a beautiful song , well played Sir 👏
This is gorgeous! I’ve been learning this, and I’ve finally found someone who’s covered this without a pick haha. Great job!

I've not been annoyed by watching someone sing in a long time. Gad damn.
Fantastic. Really enjoyed this. Excellent playing

Wow! That's high praise! I'm glad you liked it
I've never hit a note anywhere as high as is sung by Josiah (or Paul)! Fine job.
Haha, it is pretty high! If I could have tuned my guitar a step lower I would have, haha!
Beautiful, thank you!
This is beautiful mate!
Beautiful rendition! Well done!
Thanks!

it certainly is a nightmare. I considered tattooing the lyrics to my forearm but the font would be too small. Thanks for listening by the way!
Super! Really enjoyed this!
Wow. Da brividi!
Thanks!
Beautiful
Thanks man! Appreciate encouragement!
Excellent!
Thanks!
Good job!
Fabulous👊👊
For a second I thought you weren’t going to sing , glad I was wrong.
Mate, my guitarin' skills arent good enough to stand alone for 6minutes, haha!
Nice camera!
Any chance of sharing a tab?
Sorry mate, I don’t think so 🤷
Would love a lesson on this if you could find the time
Where’d you get that sweater? I want one. Also, I love this cover, keep posting more covers and originals, I’m your biggest fan 😁
I knit the sweater myself.... jks. It's from Ireland.
@@josiahdavidswim more details... hehe
Quite a story told here…….😥
What year Martin? Is the "brightness" during the musical intervals intentional?

Is this I open G tuning .?
Yeah, it is
Excellent !
