So in a nutshell, he likes it a lot. It's ideal given certain concealed carry conditions and applications. So all that being said, when the gentleman refers to "police chiefs," he highlights those with higher ranks like field grades or general/flag officers who could carry a J-Frame revolver as their primary service weapon since their position and duties don't necessitate carrying a high capacity semi-automatic pistol or something bigger. He then talks about the characteristics of the Centennial Series of S&W's J-Frames and in particular, the 42 series and its many versions- steel (black & SS), alloy (some with Nickel finishes). In fact, he doesn't even talk about the actual 640 Pro Series until 6 minutes into the video. He mentions three advantages of the Centennial Series, 1) lack of sharp angles which makes it a doozy to carry and draw, 2) the DAO aspect of the weapon that offers a greater degree of safety, especially in the appendix carry, and 3) the enclosed nature of the Centennial Series (he mentions that it's not "hammerless" but rather it's inside the frame) which protects the firearm from debris and sweat. Next, he mentions that for years, his tried and true CCW has been the alloy frame, titanium cylinder S&W 342. Reliable, comfortable to carry but punishing on the hands even with standard .38SPC rounds if you shoot it a lot, never mind Magnum loads. Then at the half way point, he finally discusses the S&W 640 and its attributes 1) aesthetic clean lines and fluted barrel shroud, 2) practical easy to acquire night sights with an actual rear sight and 3) the fact that the cylinder comes cut from the factory for moon clips. He then shoots it a few times and answers the big questions- how's it handle .357MAG? He states that it's every revolver CCW enthusiast's dream to be able to use .357MAG in a platform traditionally suitable for .38SPC and reminds the audience the arguments made by others about the cons of putting magnum rounds through a short 2 inch barrel- lower velocity and unpredictable expansion patterns of hollow point ammo. But he stressed that modern handgun bullet technology can help overcome these concerns, like the Federal 125gr JHP round. Finally, he shoots a cylinder's load of the stuff in timed succession to demonstrate recoil management at a target at 10yds. He summarizes that the recoil is intense, talks about his 1-inch shot group being more than good enough for defensive work (mentions that his one "flyer" on the target was due to him being surprised by the stout recoil). Finally, he goes on to talk about how there is a robust market for the J-Frame in accessories and parts like aftermarket sights and action tuning (but mentions the Pro Series doesn't need either of those since it comes with that already). He talks quickly about other means to load the revolver; singly, with moon clips or with a speed loader like the HKS that he shows. He briefly mentions the infinite choices in grips for J-Frame and then elaborates on holsters; you name it, it's out there- 1) leather (e shows the DeSantis Soft Tuck), and 2) for those who sweat a lot, there are Kydex (Blade-tech) options, or even 3) hybrids (Crossbreed) as well as 4) adhesive retention pocket holsters. With the pocket holster, he reminds the audience to not re-holster the revolver in your pocket. You need to take out the holster, to re-holster and then put it back in your pocket. Regardless of what kind you prefer, he strongly encourages NOT to pack the weapon without a holster that covers and protects the trigger unless you really like to negligently discharge your firearm since something could snag the trigger when you "holster" it or you shoot yourself when you draw the revolver and unintentional pull the trigger in a stressful situation In conclusion he strongly recommends the S&W 640 Pro Series whether as a back up weapon or service piece; a J-Frame with 7 decades of service history, along with modern day ammo tech, practical features and option to load Magnum rounds.

Full load .357 still kicks like a mule in stainless j-frames. I have the Stainless 649 in .357. I practice with .38SPCL but carry it with .357.
I bought some Hogue (fuller size) grips which help immensely when shooting .38 +P and .357.
