Comfeefort, that’s the beauty of this show. It’s just real people and their fascinating personal stories. I’m getting tired of just celebrities getting their family histories done and featured.
Bring this show back into production. I am 3rd generation San Fransican . My Grandmother survived the earthquake and fire. Her father was a member of the special police force. I have learned a bit on that time but would like more details.
Omg l just LOVED this!! And l cried through some of the stories. PBS has the best shows where you always learn something new, exciting and fascinating! EVERY human on earth deserves to know their roots. Good or bad it is their right to know!👍😃🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦🕊
I have not seen any of these episodes on television on PBS. But finding out of it from the PBS network app. It seems like a good show I hope PBS can bring it back on the channel so I can watch it from there. As I was doing my family history research I found that I am related to the French explorers Jacques Cartier, Jean Nicolet, and Etienne Brule. And that I am a direct descendent of the Filles du Roi named Catherine de Baillon. Catherine de Baillon is from a minor nobility family in France that traces her ancestry back to the great European monarch King Charles I the great of the Franks who is also known as Charlemagne.
After my father's parents passed away, I got some photo books and pics in bubble (dome) glass frames that got me to thinking my father's mother may be related to the Wright brothers
We were stationed in Germany and my father dragged us from cemetery to cemetery to do his genealogy research. We were lucky that most of them had playgrounds so we were not always bored. He found out we were related to the chief of police in Luxembourg and some farmers in Bitburg.
I liked Genealogy Roadshow better than Finding Your Roots, and maybe more, or at least in a tie with, Who Do You Think You Are. I, too, would welcome its return.
@@terrigaines1812 it means I’m related to him (think cousin). Somewhere along the way, we have a common female ancestor, his mother’s side, my dad’s mother’s side, all the way up just the female line.
@@lightyagami3492 trying to. I know what family search says, but going up the maternal line, especially my paternal grandmother’s line, is not easy. It’s like trying to find a needle in a whole barn full of haystacks. I can get up to a certain point, but it’s tricky. It was only 12 years ago that I finally broke the wall on her dad’s side, thanks to my dad’s cousins finally sending me what I had been asking for, for 10 years. My great grandma’s side is a bit trickier. One side is Scottish, the other side is German. It’s the German side that will be connected to Benjamin Franklin.
I have done some ancestry by myself. I have through my mother taken my family back to the Mayflower. Peregrine White . I have traced my dad's family back to Pocahontas. I want to know if I did this correctly.
Please come back to San Francisco. My daughter and I are tenth and eleventh generation San Franciscans decendants of the original colonizers. Moraga Bernal Ortega Ayala etc. I cross three streets named after them daily. We have our Geniology very well documented. My biggest questions are my Apache and Yaqui family. My Apache grandfather was sent to "indian school" as a child and my Yaqui grandmother was orphaned after soldiers massacred my great grandparents in thier village on northern Mexico. My grandmother only spoke her Native Yaqui language.
As if Henry Ford was this altruistic man, paying African Americans $5 a day. No, he racially segregated the metro Detroit suburbs. Let’s not pretend this man was some kind of visionary for this girl’s ancestors. (11:00)
Yes, I heard he was racist and into eugenics. If this is true then he was an horrible human being. He wanted the cheap labor, he wasn’t trying to help anyone but himself.
The genocide of native americans all over the US, especially here in California, was terrible, and swept under the rug, many of my native american ancestors were hunted down and killed like animals..one good thing is the gene testing now can do what this can do for the most part some of the overseas stuff might be tough...
So if I read this correctly It's a #KenBurns from #PBS. ?? I haven't heard or seen this, and ya'll should being it back !! It's about regular people like me. The one with no living relatives but qant to know my history, and anyone else with a story to tell whom might read this. 😊
nah-didn’t the court already decide the matter against the debt? This was vengeance after a sore loser lost at court, right? I mean who knows what their original agreement was.
How did Kenyatta skip from the 1880 census for Andrew Ingraham to the 1860 (without 1870!) and how did she come up with the slaveholder name of Thos. Dudley? Thin air?
As for why Finding Your Roots seems to focus on Civil War ancestors, it's just that it's a pretty big event in American culture. And if your complaint is that every episode focuses on either slaves or slave owners, let's point out that the show is hosted by a Professor of African American History at a major university. So basically you're complaining that a show with a host who's an actual expert, who teaches at a prestigious university on Black history, has too much Black history.
I used to think I had no stories to uncover as my people were likely farmers or peasants. I found it wasn't true - that the stories, and the documents are there in plenty.
It may be just the American accent that I am not used to, but why does everyone in this video pronounce "genealogy" incorrectly? Can't they see that there is an "a" in the middle of the word, not an "o"? Don't confuse genealogy with geology.
Not giving a full story but only the punchline is dissatisfying. It’s the story that is meaningful. Love watching genealogy roadshow but not a fan of the greatest hits
PLEASE PBS bring this show back!!!
No kidding, I enjoyed it so much and it was just normal People, not celebrities

Absolutely!
I always wanted to find out about my past. I’m adopted and would love to know. I was born in Italy 🇮🇹 adopted to USA.
I second that!!!
I love watching these shows! It would be great if they brought it back!
I totally Love this wonderful Show, please Bring it Back ❤😊❤
The comments say this show is no longer on…I would love to see this show!

This trimmed down version is easy to watch. More cases per show. PBS, pls continue to produce and air this.
Why haven't I heard of this show before? I just love it!

The St.Louis library is beautiful! I've only ever visited to admire the building, never use their research materials.

wasnt this show cancelled like 5 years ago? 2:49 I'm a Mayflower Descendant myself. Peter Browne.
I am a Mayflower descendant on both my maternal and paternal side, to several different Mayflower passengers.
I never heard of this show? It would be nice to bring it back!!!
I like Genealogy Roadshow because it focuses on the ancestry of ordinary people, like me. ❤PBS🦉 📺👍🏾

Yes! “Who do you think you are?” is much better than Dr. Henry Louis Gates’ CRT obsessed “Finding your roots”
According to 23andme, my dad is on the same maternal haplogroup as Benjamin Franklin.
Does that mean that he's your ancestor?

This should be called-The Geneology of Immigrants living in America☝🏾💯
Unless someone is 100% Native American, the rest of us are the descendants of immigrants.
