I use my hercules cut off tool w/4ah battery and a multimaterial blade when I'm cutting vinyl fences and LVP flooring, then switch to a diamond disc for fiber cement flooring. The 4ah hercules batteries can be found for as little as $24.99 when on sale, always buy from HF when there's a sale.
I'm not gonna lie, I made an impulsive buy with the Hyper Tough 12V Brushless impact driver. And I literally love the thing. In fact I love it so much I bought a second one. I even use it on job sites and have used it to drive 12" GRK screws into foundations and 6×6 posts and stuff and it's driven them all so far. Which I'm pretty confident is a much more demanding task than they were intended to be used for. Driving standard deck screws or 3⅛" structural screws is nothing for it and it sends them home nice and quickly without any but stripping or slipping in the screw heads like you experience with a regular drill driver. I grab the Hyper Tough over my DeWalt and Bosch drills every time now. And I love that the little side clip grips nicely to my pocket opening on my jeans and the tool is perfectly balanced and stays clipped even when swinging my legs far climbing scaffolding and stuff. I haven't had as good of luck with the 12V rotary tool however. Which is a bummer. The 1st one I bought was very easy to overload when using it causing the tool to shut down during use. On the 3rd day I was using it I overloaded it again and it never turned back on again after that. So I did buy a 2nd one that I'm being much more gentle with than the 1st to hopefully get more use from it. I like the cordless portability of it and the ability to swap batteries unlike my cordless Dremel that you can only plug in and recharge when it's dead. My Dremel has a lot more torque and has never overloaded or shut down on me though. Sooner or later I'll invest in a premium battery powered Dremel tool that has swappable batteries. The Hyper Tough is far cheaper than those guys are though. Even with the purchase of an extra battery or 2 and I already bought a quick charger. I recently purchased the 12V sawzall from Hyper Tough as well as the cutoff tool in the video too. And I have the long reach 12V ratchet wrench I have yet to really put to good use. It's hard to pass them up at the price they sell for. They seem to be pretty good overall. The impact is by far my favorite though. No need to invest in a Milwaukee or DeWalt or any other premium brand when you can get one that good for under $50 with a battery and charger included. I'd definitely recommend the impact. But I'd advise some caution when buying the 12V rotary tool. If you get one you really need to be extra soft and gentle when running it. Don't put any pressure on the big or cutting wheel or you'll very easily overload and possibly kill the tool for good. At the very least you'll be plagued with annoying shit downs and having to switch it off and back on again often. There's my 2 cents. Coming from a professional contractor of over 15 years now who regularly uses and owns several premium brand tools to base some comparison on. The average DIYer or homeowner would be just fine with the Hyper Tough line based on my own experience so far
Great comparison of the tools. Definitely makes me want to get the HT to add to my collection lol. I would love to see a video on the little recip saw that's one that I really want. Thanks for sharing.
Nice review Zack. Do you think the threaded rod is sometimes getting slightly work hardened from the heat, affecting some of the cut times ? Maybe a fan or a wet rag wrapped below the cut would help.
It's not the tool, it's the quality of the battery. If you got the highest end battery you will always see improvements. This is why hercules has two types of 20v battery like their extreme series
I just got the HT impact wrench and it looks so nice…. Heavy feeling too. But it’s flexing on the case and the motor gets bogged down. I can it doing this even withouy a battery in. I’m taking it back tomorrow
Alot of brands offer the premium batteries now, Ryobi was actually one of the first with the HP batteries and brushless tools then offering HP tools aswell. Ridgid had octane for hot minute but then changed it up, Milwaukee is a mess with with HO, high demand, red lithium, heavy duty, etc. Dewalt did the best, IMO with FLEX volt.
I guess testing with the cheapest cut off wheels is more realistic but not really an even match up to compare the warrior wheels to a hercules recip saw blade. For testing purposes, the best quality cut off wheel should be used to reduce the amount of variables though. like when you showed the chipped wheel it tells more about the quality of the wheel than the tool
Great review! The Hypertough line is looking more appealing all the time. For home work even if it takes a little bit longer it’s still better than a hacksaw 😅
the hyper tough are awesome for what they are i have most of them and they put in work for what i use them for and they get abused and hold up more then what you expect
I will be working on that one soon. I’m going to do the installation driver first and then go to the oscillating tool. I may pick up one more oscillating tool to compare it to as well. Suggestions?
I don’t think I reviewed the Skil, but I do own it and will be using it in the Hyper Tough video. I am looking for one more to add to the group. Suggestions?
Before I started doing my tool videos on this channel, I released some info on the 12 volt HT drill in my previous channel. Here is the video- th-cam.com/video/cqupbYQxBq8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=45PNhEXtt03EA1Y2
I have the hercules and never had these issues. Even with the smaller battery. I have the larger as well and that tool has gotten me out a lot of jams and I cut a camaro trunk up pretty easier when having to modify it
Every since i saw the HERC one esp with the little circ saw attachment and held it in my hands i have wnated one!! It's just a nice well made good looking tool!! But i expected it to do better here!!?? Seeing how good HT has become i may be giving them some serious looks and may be buying me some HT shit for sure!!?? Esp their 12v line!! Thou i believe that SKIL STILL RULES IN THE 12V LINE!!!😊❤
That is coming up next. I ordered the Milwaukee M12 to compare to the Hyper Tough. It’s a little out of its class, but it should be a good reference point.
I would’ve loved to see a big named brand in there to see a more averaged rating for them all especially for the price since Milwaukee, and the Dewalt one seem a little pricey for $200 alone. Over all it was a great review.
Very interested to see more HT 12v tools. Seems like Walmart (or at least their Chinese manufacturer, Techway I believe) has gotten serious about releasing a line of quality 12v tools. Back when they launched their 12v ratchets, I dismissed them out of hand, but I kept hearing they were good so I picked up the extended-reach 12v ratchet for $60. That was a bit over half of what even Amazon brands were charging for similar products, with little or no warranty. Was very surprised when I opened it and it felt better built than my brushed Milwaukee ratchet. Picked up the brushed drill/flashlight combo kit for the batteries, but the drill is super comfortable and way more capable than I expected. Certainly not for professional use, but it drove some lag bolts for a TV mount into wall studs (albeit not very happily). I wasn't expecting it to work! As far as the charger goes, it makes sense to me. Walmart is targeting homeowners and other DIYers who likely only use their tools once in a while, so extended charging times are less of an issue and the cheap chargers keep unit prices very low.
The Torque Test Channel just did a review of the Hyper Tough extended reach ratchet and looks like is better than the last placed KIMO and at around half the price. I purchased, though haven't had the time to use just yet.
I saw some of this stuff the ratchet and impact on ali express they blurred out the name but some ads they didn't but if you dont mind waiting they are cheaper
The Bauer sucks for sure, I picked it up when it first came out and they had a $30 sale on it, hoping it would be better than the wimpy 12v Milwaukee, but even with an 8ah 21700 pack it’s still worse haha

The problem is why buy these when Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3" Compact Cut Off Tool Kit with 4 amp/hr battery & charger with the shield is $159 with two different cut off wheels and a tote bag. Sorry but I'll stick what I already have several of and that's the Milwaukee products.
Hypertough 12v has been AWESOME . Coming out with various products and with the stronger brushless motors
Thank you for the review bringing in the Bauer and Hercules!!
You are most welcome

i have the milwaukee 12v one and with a 9ah knock off battery thing works amazing cause the 3.0 batterys die fast af
Cant beat a 5yr warranty for THAT price!

I switched between a few options in creating that tester. I may take your advice before it’s all said and done. What do you suggest?
Why even start with the 2amp hr on the hercules??¿ just to try and make the hercules look bad?
That is Hercules making Hercules look bad
