The Polyvagal Theory should be required reading for every educator while the prosody inherent in the voice of Dr Jorgensen should be the model for how we speak to students in our schools with the light heart hearted dance of our emotions reflecting the safety we wish to impart. Thank you both for this session.

Thanks, Rebecca, and Dr. Porges. This is one of the most useful explanations of the polyvagal theory that I have ever heard and it confirms my work with the prenatal to three parenting stage and my belief in the tenets of Waldorf Education. Barbara J Stern

I would be interested to know more about the Polyvagal Syndrome structure and the different layers of the system and related symptoms mentioned at minute 26:06. Perhaps there is a resource you could recommend? I am most grateful for Dr. Porges work and this interview you have so beautifully done.

The acoustic portal~~>the tympanic membrane, ear drum, is composed of all three embryonic tissues layers. Therefore before the neurons are even activated, the message is received by the connective tissue system and transmitted instantly systemically. The cornea, skin and visceral epithelium are other fascial receptor sites maintaining the bell in good tone.

So now is Polyvagal implemented? How can someone benefit from this theory?

I am familiar with Peter Levine's work i.e. somatic experiencing. So would it be accurate to say the Levine's work is explained through Poly vagel theory, & Dr. Porges is a theorist and not a practitioner?

Patrick Flemming Somatic Experiencing is helpful. Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy is research based and proven to help as well.

Dr. Stephen Porges has created the Safe and Sound Protocol. It was released sometime this year and I am hearing amazing things about it! We are about to do the protocol with our 4 year old son. integratedlistening.com/ssp-safe-sound-protocol/
