I was 7 when this aired and cried my eyes out. The first fictional character who truly inspired me as a young girl and I felt her loss on a whole other level
When I first watched the TV series I found it quite touching, especially the love❤ triangle between Robin Hood and Sir Guy of Gisborne. All the cast of that show were magnificent 👍
When I first heard Lucy Griffiths was leaving Robin Hood and that Marian was to be killed off, I was outraged and said "They can't kill Marian off. She's part of the legend".
Where it comes down to is that the writers/ producers made a bad decision to kill off Marian. Apparently they didn't have a proper script for the scene, the actors had to fill in the dialogue themselves! For me this series ends at episode 11 season 2. I' ve read several fan fics with alternative endings, mostly Guy/Marian pairing. I wonder if it is possible to make an alternative version with AI based on fanfics. The actors ofcourse have moved on but when I read the comments on here about people having had post trauma disorder after having seen this ending, thats not good. One should have fond memories to a show. I wonder if someone could make a podcast about young viewers reactions and how they look back. ( I wasn't a young viewer but was still upset with the ending) And if drama writers should have a better notion to their audience wishes. When Robin Hood was on it was popular to kill off characters, Arthur Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock Holmes but brought him back to life after readers upset reactions.
The retcons in Series 3 make this more interesting. I wonder if Marian saying that was like guy reliving how he saw Robin's father with his mother all over again. I think he believed Malcolm raped or seduced his mother, or at least that Robin Hood took everything from him. His father, his mother, and now the woman he loved.
Ya it gave me ptsd as well it breaks me in tears everytime I watch its one of the most tragic deaths that I watched at 8 years old and was in tears for days thinking of her death and how season 3 would be like which couldn’t watch mentally until I was 14-15 years old
Call me what you want but, I couldn't stand her. She was a hypocrite through and through. She kept leading Guy on when it suited her, she would charm him and when it was her time to pay up for all that he did for her, she spat in his face. Which she did multiple times throughout the series anyway. Constantly reminding him how she supposedly saved him. If you save someone with the intention of holding it over their heads don't even bother because it's one of the most manipulative and disgusting thing to do. Her and Robin were both hypocrites because if they killed it was ok because it was for a " good cause " but when Sheriff and Guy did it, it was a different story. Murder was still a murder. Yes, Guy had his own vices but at least he didn't paint himself to be selfrighteous, holier than thou asshole like the other two did. Guy deserved someone better - someone to teach him true meaning of love, someone who didn't have agenda or an emotional baggage. Sad he never got that in the series. Robin and Marianne def deserved each other.

I can relate. Her loss was massive to me. She was my favorite. 😭❤️
I hope Richard Armitage was right about Guy unintentionally killing Marian in the interview. From our point of view, Guy killed Marian in rage.
It looked to me that he thrust that sword right into her in rage that she loved his arch rival not him.

Actually she does sadly die in the legend, it's just Disney who changed it to be a happy ending and it stuck
@@stephaniekirby3073 I meant Marian getting killed off at the end of Series 2.

I had PTSD the first time I watched this on PBS. Watching a woman get run through with a sword is shocking for me.
