This new episodes of dark soul III is like a boss fight run because it is NG+ after I'm done with all the bosses, maybe I'll start from the beginning and choose a random class and do a challenge speed run
NG+ =End game+ in other words, after you finish the game you have the option to start from 0 or to start with the original lvl weapons and other items from the the previous run

It's more a Yhorm Ruler than a Storm Ruler.
Or maybe it's due to Yhorm being a different kind of giant than the other ones in the game
The item description says : known as the Giantslayer for the residual strength of the storm that brings giants to their knees.
The Skill: Storm King Assume stance to imbue sword with storm. Most effective when facing giants.
But it does not want to work on other giants.
