      Been there and done that, plus the farmer screwed that compaction lever way down, so the bales were heavier than hell.

      The baler my uncle used had something wrong with the length measurements. One would be a standard bale, the next one about a foot longer, then came a monster bale about 6 feet long and 150 lbs. Kinda hard to buck that 2 string bale that outweighed me by 30 lbs when I was 13.

    Ur in trouble if you think that tractor is too lite, too lite is too lite in everything about that tractor. Break downs will follow and probably very soon. I am retired hay farmer, i used an older system like urs but even back then too small was a disaster in the waiting. U need to run from that size tractor fast, not doing so will cost you more very soon. Do not be like me, set the ego aside and get the tractor u know will do the job, then go one bigger. Praying for you to work this out. Great content....

    maybe using something like Agri-Speed Hitch or similar -- would allow you to quickly move the wagons as you load instead of having to run back with each group of bales -- a farmer I used to work for bought a set of these hitches and it sure made swapping chopper wagons in the field a lot easier -- unhook and hook right from the tractor seat

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely be interested in that.

    • @TheByard
      @TheByard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used sets of quick hitch mainly for silage work, the farmer bought new trailers with axle right on the rear end, swinging shoe type leg on the hitch end to keep the hitch eye 1ft off the ground when we dropped the trailers. The tractors user the plough arms and the silage cutter had a system fitted. After a while we could gauge where the empty would be needed, so another time saver.

The girl getting wore out and harder to find parts for her. But I do like my round baler to. Its a Kubota and takes some of the extra work out of haying. Do you have SoftDrive on the Loader? When Lifting those heavy loads it will allow loader to absorb the load versus transferring to the tractor. I have customers that say it reduces the lifting of rear tires since it the loader absorbs the bounce and reduces transferring that force to the tractor. Still probably need to add some more ballast or pickup something on 3 Poitn hitch but man it takes the shake out of the tractors when lifting heavy loads.

    Have y’all been getting rain out there. We have been blessed with some decent rain out here. The. Current weather forecast is calling for “47%” on Tuesday and 50% on Wednesday. I really want to finish my 1st cutting ( about 30 more acres) but I usually like to cut and cure hay with a less than 35% chance of rain. I’m really convinced the meteorologist in this country are a bunch of crackheads . They predict clear weather and it rains , they predict rain and we have sunshine.

      @@DLHFarms What I would be more afraid of is going downhill with 10-tons+ pushing. My brother had a tractor break traction going downhill with a load of firewood. He rode it all the way down the hill...stopped a few feet short of crashing into the house. Another guy I know flipped his large Ford Tractor (after losing traction - no load); he was pinned under the tractor. Crap can happen real quick!

    Why don’t you put some on 3 pt hitch for ballast?

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because usually the tractor is hooked to a rake then it gets unhooked at whatever field it’s at and put to handling bales a 3pt weight would be something else I would have to haul out to the field then install which takes valuable time when your trying to beat the rain.

    Just make the bales lighter and then you won’t have as much weight out front. A good 35-40# bale is all ladies want and you get more bales in each field in return.

    • @DLHFarms

      I did shorten them some. Problem was the hay was high moisture because of trying to beat the weather. The hay will be fine because of the preservative but it makes them heavy.
