Honestly, though, the disdain the god and the 12 showed the cat, after its speech about accepting its mortality and not wanting to be locked into eternal bonds, made me think of the anger family and friends sometimes show to severely-ill individuals who forego resuscitation methods (CPR, Life Support, etc.) or surgeries/drug treatments which are/can be just as harmful to their body as the disease, when their reaching their end. Like the individual is at fault for accepting the possible outcome of their illness and are 'betraying' their loved ones by 'not fighting hard enough to live' or 'not utilizing all their options' and irresponsibly 'leaving them behind'. And, sometimes, the pain and fighting to stsy alive gets too be too much. And to shame a person, who just plain *might* want to go on to where their life takes them, is just selfish. And, yes, emotions can run high and, sadly, young ones and significant others may be left behind, but to scornfully turn your back on individuals who, at that time, need you the *MOST* is...that's just DEEP. The way ppl internalize things and react to them are truly individual, however, 'sheep mentality' is all too real. I can't help but wonder if all the 12 were truly feeling betrayed or if it was feeling the vibe of the majority/the god and not wanting to be the odd ones out? I may be overthinking things...maybe, if I ever meet Takaya-sensei, I'll ask her.
Manga-reader here, but... WOW! This animated version is sooooo good! The music, the art, and the scripting & directing.... It just made the whole story come ALIVE!!!
For the first time I felt a genuine happiness from an anime. Each character in it has their own problems, and now is the solution to the pain that has been holding them back. Akito, and the other Sohma deserve their own happiness. I'm not ready for the ending that's coming soon...huhu ಥ_ಥ
*Manga discussion bellow* ------------------------- Ayame's bit may seem a little bit out of nowhere, but in the manga it is actually heavily hinted that not only is he in a relationship with Mine for some time now, but that she knows the Souma's secret. The fact that she got all emotional when he hugged her has to do with this knowledge, not only the (surprisingly proper and sincere) confession. They have been hiding it so she doesn't have her memories wiped. Like, Akito couldn't care less about Ayame, but they still need to hide their relationship because everyone knows Ayame wouldn't be able to properly keep the curse a secret AND be in a relationship at the same time (fact that, yes, they are very correct about). And yes, from what I remember, Hatori was his first love, he may have had some superficial relationships with whatever people (because you just know he doesn't care about age or gender or anything really) from his youth up to now and finally settled when he met Mine.
I do largely agree with this, though the anime actually does make it very clear that Mine knows about the Curse (in S3, E5). So, a lot of anime only fans will know that. I was really happy about that change, because the manga only heavily implied that she did. Though, the manga did make it clearer, imo, that they were already a pre-established pairing.
@@LilyGinnyBlack35 I guess it's just an artifact of adaptation and it's restrictions. Mangá has more leeway to expand on details and side characters (and also those little rant spaces for the author). Anime has to deal with a tighter and more complex production. I am actually very impressed by how good this new iteration of Fruits Basket is, while having almost 1:1 fidelity to the source material _and_ fitting neatly in 3 seasons. Also hyped to see what they do with the remaining episodes. Hope they expand a bit on the epilogue.
Yuki probably didn't appear because it might've already happened to him when he was running towards/with Machi and that's a crucial moment on it's own IM SO EXCITED TO SEE IT ANIMATED
One of the few things I realized after watching this episode, Tohru became the "cat" for Akito. Ok n the first episode, I think, when Kyoko was telling her the story of the Zodiac, she always said she wanted to be the cat. And now with the real story of the cat revealed in the episode, Tohru did indeed become the cat who became the first friend of the god but this time she opened up the God's world more compared to the legend.
Good job noticing the scars on Shigure's cheek! About your question, there has been several theories running around as to what makes the curse breaks. Like Shigure said, it is such an old and weakened bond. But it seems that the zodiac members actions in walking way from or rebelling from God are instrumental - which is why he implicated Tohru. But some theorised that the linchpin is Akito herself, her letting go of the bond. Someone noticed that Kureno's curse broke around the time that Shigure spoke to her of a love that existed beyond the scope of the zodiacs. It could be that this prompted her to let go, just a little, of her father's words, thus one bond breaking. Momiji's curse broke while she was having a dream of Haru walking away from her, which may show that unconsciously, she had started to doubt the promise. When Hiro's curse breaks, she has just realized that "everything was broken from the start." Tohru's friendship would be what allows her to truly say goodbye, when the wish of the Cat finally reach God's heart.

Seeing Kyohru is such a shock to my system because I've shipped them for SO long. I'm beyond happy right now. 14:24 I think the telling of the original promise - that everyone had forgotten - effectively portrayed the deep sadness and feeling of loss that the former Zodiac members feel when their bonds break. Seeing how wholesome the beginning was made the end sting a little. The original promise also re-established Akito's role as God for me. She was othered and alone because she's special even among the zodiac. She was lonely. God was alone & lonely, spent some time with the cat and the other animals, then lived alone again after they all died. But this time, God wasn't lonely. I have hope that Akito's story will follow the same pattern and she won't be lonely anymore, either. She may not have eternity, but she'll be okay.
So as a manga reader, my thought was that akito ended up breaking the curse herself, but idk maybe the curse just suddenly broke but from what I read I thought Akito broke it
i know im super late to the party, but i started watching fruits basket right after the series finished. 1. akito is by far the best/well written character in the show. only kyou can rival her in terms of character development and the show was always at its peak while focusing on akito. 2. with 2 episodes left to go, the one thing that will make it a masterpiece or not (for me), is if everybody is coming together so see akito and show her that (not necessarily love, but) a true/real/genuine bond can be make even without the curse/promise. while on one hand, tooru was almost never outspoken (honest) about her true feelings, akito was. she might be the most honest person entire show. so the other characters should show her the same kins of honesty. even more than tooru, kyou and everyone else, i want akito to find happyness. EDIT: OUH F$#K YES! kimono akito was literally perfection. what a beautiful woman. what a beautiful moment. what a beautiful couple. masterpiece.
It is kind of depressing but Ritsu did have a really big part in the last part before the curse breaking. Sadly it had to be cut out for the ep count. I still love s3 fruba lol
????? I read the manga and I don't remember any plot-related significance about Ritsu...... He is by far the most irrelevant of all the zodiacs, I love his character though, don't get me wrong, is just that Takaya did not know how to include his character more in the story and for that reason after the couple of episodes in which he was presented (which were adapted in the first season) he did not appear again, he was only referred to through Mitsuru, or also when all the zodiacs met or the history showed or talk about them as a group (either in the present or in flashbacks). That was all about his character and the anime did not cut any of his appearances up to now.
@@eco5322 Nothing. I don't know what OP is talking about (I'm a manga reader). Ritsu had the same amount of screen time and presence in this reboot as the manga. In fact, I would say that the reboot has handled Ritsu even a bit better than the manga. Ritsu's introduction episode was reworked and is better than the manga. None of Ritsu's moments were skipped over (though, some things were cut in the introduction episode due to the reworking of it, but they replaced those moments with better scenes, imo).
Yeah, they basically cut out the small amount of development that Ayame and Mine have as a couple (and Ayame has on his own). This scene still hits and works for me, because I've read the manga, so I know of those scenes that were cut, but I'm happily surprised by how many anime only fans really liked the Ayame and Mine scene and didn't find it odd or weird.
@@LilyGinnyBlack35 I was actually a little confused to what Aya and Mine had going on since it wasnt clearly explained (Or maybe i missed something) but i always thought they were lowkey cute
@@caielarmbrister8341 I think the status of their relationship is made a bit clearer in the manga. . . . . . . In Ch. 110, one of the chapters that was cut, Yuki visits Ayame and asks if Mine is Ayame's girlfriend and if she knows about the Curse. Ayame doesn't comment and instead completely changes the topic, indicating that she probably is, she probably does, and that Ayame isn't even willing to tell Yuki this. That chapter also has Ayame cupping Mine's face and getting really close (heavily implying a kiss) as well as him kissing her forehead and crying (he was worried she might reject him, but she didn't). So the manga makes it clearer that they are a pre-established couple, and a lot of fans (myself included) think that they decided to keep their relationship a secret because of what happened with Hatori and Kana. Now that the Curse is broken Ayame can love Mine freely and fully.
wait wait right now i’m craving kyo and tohru high school couple scenes. we can have those cute ass flavoured scenes AGAIN but this time with more intimacy 😌 also, i think yuki’s curse probably broke while speaking to machi, i think he miighhtt’ve hugged her or something but we’ll see next episode ig 😩👆

I'm crying watching this again. Kyo and Tohru deserve so much happiness. I weep everytime 🥺😭😭😭😭😭 the animated version was worth the wait
Manga-reader here, but... WOW! This animated version is sooooo good! The music, the art, and the scripting & directing.... It just made the whole story come ALIVE!!!
"Gimme a damn minute, kyo!!!" 🤣
now let’s wait patiently for yuki and machi’s moment. i’m so excited omggg
This episode was beautiful, all the curses breaking was amazing 😭
For the first time I felt a genuine happiness from an anime. Each character in it has their own problems, and now is the solution to the pain that has been holding them back. Akito, and the other Sohma deserve their own happiness.
I'm not ready for the ending that's coming soon...huhu ಥ_ಥ
The story of the original promise had me sobbing, god
*Manga discussion bellow*
-------------------------
Ayame's bit may seem a little bit out of nowhere, but in the manga it is actually heavily hinted that not only is he in a relationship with Mine for some time now, but that she knows the Souma's secret.
@@cristianotsurudaprocopio8757 Oh, I definitely agree with you on all of that! They've done a wonderful job!
This episode was so beautiful and theKyo's confession was so sweet ! So hyped for the remaining episodes ! Thanks Lala for the feels !
I am in love with the reaction you had with the first half of the show during the Tohru and kyo chase scene. And the kiss!!!!!
From what I understand, it was Akito who broke the remaining bonds of the zodiac
This episode was AMAZING 😻😻😻 !!! And I love to watch your reactions , i feel like i’m watching fruits basket with a friend and it’s so cool !! I feel your good energy behind my screen, I’m always smiling and it’s seriously one of my favorites moments of the week so thank you for that GURLLL ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was crying in this episode a lot! The timing of this series has been wonderful for me ahh the Kyoru moments I’m so here for it!
I was glad for Akito to move on for her life as she hugged Tohru. I’m sure it was a big sadness of course but also relief for ever connected to the curse
19:36 i'm so happy you mentioned Yuki omg, I thought for a sec you forgot about him LMAOO but yeah, i'm also curious as to why they didn't show him? :O it could be, as you said, that it broke while he was running to Machi. I really hope we get a lot of them next week cause I wanna see more moments between them! but I loved this episode sm and Kyoru srsly has my heart!! great reaction!
Yeeees, I haven't read the manga, but I'm assuming we're getting a big Yuki x Machi moment next week, and that's why this episode didn't show them. Considering the timeline, he was definitely with her when all the curses broke. 💓
@@luandadeoliveira129 I'm hoping so too! If it's something they wanted to dedicate more time to, I understand, but I was looking forward to it all week long!!!
Kyo pouting 🥺🥺🥺 I just realized it’s Bcs he still thinks akito is a man 😭😭😭 he’s like “what you doin with ma girl”😭
This episode made me cry even more than it did in the manga and I cried a lot reading it. Waterfalls came
Lol same. I squeeee when he grabbed the pole and stopped in front of her 🤣🤣
I love how Akito just "yoinks" Tohru into the room
I remember reading the manga while the localization was still being released. The big moment, when Kyo rips his prayer beads off because he no longer needs them... My only regret is that I can never experience the emotional catharsis of this seeing that moment for the first time again.
“ he did not just get on his knees!”😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️ “ give me a damn minute, Kyo!” 😂😂❤️❤️
I guess now all the ships are starting to taking course😭😭😭
Except for Saki... or not?
@@HenSt-gz7qj maybe idk What if she end up with Kazuma🤷🏾♀️🤣🤣idk
i was freaking out the whole time while watching this episode 😅
i was sobbing the entire episode lmfao this episode was freaking amazing
I cried like a lot 🥺🥺😢like i felt their pain, loneliness and happiness ❤️❤️
For sure Yuki will find out about the break as he runs by Machi...😍and being a main character they will spend a few more minutes on him than the others (I think).
Don't worry about shigure's scar, it was shown earlier in the manga but they actually cut that scene from this episode so i'm guessing they'll show us that how he got it in the next episodes.
Ahhhhh akito broke the curse SHE LET THEM ALL GO FINNALY😭😭
the episode was soo beautiful i cant stop crying 😭💕
14:49, I finally remember about Shigure's scar!!!
To save everyone's curiosity, I'll just say that it is a spoiler for the next episode.
So have fun waiting for the next episode everyone~~
"My happiness is through the roof."
Omg yeah I agree with you whole-heartedly!!!!.
Edit: your theories are through the roof. Hehe
Now I have

A: anime
D: depression
S: syndrome
WE LOVE TO SEE IT
I was waiting for this ep reaction 😭 I'm excited aswell
Yep waited till 11 pm to watch and almost screeched like a banshee multiple times!!! I shouldn’t have waited so there wasn’t a risk of waking up my kids or for my head exploding from holding in my happiness but we are here now and I am ✨LIGHTHEADED✨ lmao
This episode hit HARD...I did not expect it to hit this hard. However, I will honestly say they build-up to it was great.
Glad i’m not the only one confused when Shigure got his scars on his face
i love this show!!!! such a dream to see its full adaption!!
This episode did it for me!!! I don’t want it to end but it’s so good! 🥰
Now I feel sooo happy with Tohru and Kyo thank you so much🥰
But I Can't wait to see Yuki curse broke when he is with Machi like in the Manga😭❤I Am Soo Ready for Yuchi moment😘😭
Akito is at least 20 something and SHE FINALLY starts her OWN life 😭😭😭 NOT as a Boy NOT as a God but Her own 🥲🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭😭😭😭
I love your bunny cup so much! XD
Yuki+ Machi, Machi +Yuki, lets go I'm ready for it! bring it on! cause I'm not reacting to it alone!
watch the whole fandom cry🥳🥳 next week lets go!
FRUITS BASKET WON YALL
So as a manga reader, my thought was that akito ended up breaking the curse herself, but idk maybe the curse just suddenly broke but from what I read I thought Akito broke it
akito broke it
i know im super late to the party, but i started watching fruits basket right after the series finished.
1. akito is by far the best/well written character in the show.
only kyou can rival her in terms of character development and the show was always at its peak while focusing on akito.
2. with 2 episodes left to go, the one thing that will make it a masterpiece or not (for me), is if everybody is coming together so see akito and show her that (not necessarily love, but) a true/real/genuine bond can be make even without the curse/promise.
while on one hand, tooru was almost never outspoken (honest) about her true feelings, akito was. she might be the most honest person entire show. so the other characters should show her the same kins of honesty. even more than tooru, kyou and everyone else, i want akito to find happyness.
EDIT: OUH F$#K YES!
kimono akito was literally perfection.
what a beautiful woman.
what a beautiful moment.
what a beautiful couple.
masterpiece.
THIS was the episode
6:15 i was like that too girl 😂😍
This show just gave me 10 years of diabetes
Next week we'll get yuki x machi kyaaaa gosh i hope kyotohru yukimachi have a double date
BEAUTIFUL! BUT I WANT YUKI x MACHI SO MUCH

This episode soo sweet and sad 😭😍😍

The animation on that hug
Bro this is my fav ep ive been waiting for them to be ❤ togethet
6:26 i was having the same reaction 😭😭
Did anyone notice that tohru had kyos beads in the outro next to the picture of her mom 😭😭😭
It is kind of depressing but Ritsu did have a really big part in the last part before the curse breaking. Sadly it had to be cut out for the ep count. I still love s3 fruba lol
what happened with Ritsu in the manga?
@@eco5322 go and read the manga to find out lmao
None of Ritsu's moments were skipped over (though, some things were cut in the introduction episode due to the reworking of it, but they replaced those moments with better scenes, imo).
can’t believe I almost cried
I LOCE YOUR HAIR TODAY-
Best for last you know 😭😭😭💕
I AM HAPPY BECAUSE FINALLY IT HAPPENED, BUT SAD BECAUSE IT WILL END
They actually cut a lot of Ayame scenes that's it feels kinda weird
Yeah, they basically cut out the small amount of development that Ayame and Mine have as a couple (and Ayame has on his own). This scene still hits and works for me, because I've read the manga, so I know of those scenes that were cut, but I'm happily surprised by how many anime only fans really liked the Ayame and Mine scene and didn't find it odd or weird.
@@LilyGinnyBlack35 yeah I'm happy they like it. They also cut Machi and Yuki scenes so I saw a lot people on Twitter say they are rush
@@LilyGinnyBlack35 ikr , I'm so disappointed they didn't include this
there is scene after ending
wait wait right now i’m craving kyo and tohru high school couple scenes. we can have those cute ass flavoured scenes AGAIN but this time with more intimacy 😌 also, i think yuki’s curse probably broke while speaking to machi, i think he miighhtt’ve hugged her or something but we’ll see next episode ig 😩👆
Larah is legit me. I was going crazy too
Try waiting for years from the original anime series and reading the manga over a dozen times. Then finding out that they are remaking the anime series. This is what we manga readers have been waiting for.
Not me waiting for Yuki scene.....
I have been waiting for this episode
