@@juice5744 I just mean for season 2. I like how season 1 they hate each other but because they have to work together they get to know each other and eventually care for one another. Season 2 butchers that by making Cait a dictator and instead of pretending to ditch Vi to attack Ambessa she hurts Vi and sleeps with Maddie?? And Vi doesn't even get an apology :( she doesn't even get to experience s3x for the first time in a good place, it's in the cell her sister was going to spend her last living moments. Wtf. Vi should of ran after her and Cait would help, then later on they would do stuff in a bed. They butchered something that could of worked!! But no they replaced the writers team with wattpad writers. Cait is also just super manipulative and I want Vi to be with someone good, not just feel like "the dirt under your nails". They could of made it work tho ugh
@@dacoolestzzz i actually don’t think caitvi was just fan service. tbh the younger sapphic community tends to view more sexual stuff and just percy and fan-servicey” but like we’re allowed to be into sexual stuff!!
@@mothtarts1198 What ... It isn't just "sexual stuff" their relationship is a toxic power imbalance. If Cait was a man would you think it's ok to do everything she did? Like come on. On a dirty ass prison floor. That's what you people want for representation. Ok
i just hoped in so im srry if you already said this but jayvik felt gayer to me bc of how much yearning, unspoken feelings, sacrifice (on a literal universal level like they straight up were outta madoka magica). Ik Caitvi had alot of those KIND OF but it did not seem as deeply emotional as how Jayce acted concerning Viktor. Jayvik are soulmates, Caitvi are lovers. If that makes sense.
@@MishkaLou i totally agree. it’s really unfortunate how they made vi less focused in the show and allowed caitlyn to just go around doing whatever cause it left them feeling way less fleshed out than the other relationships in the show.
@@rania9227 it had wonderful moments but i have to agree. especially because season one was so peak and im constantly comparing that caitvi to what we ended up with
This is interesting and I understand some of your points but I have to disagree that Jayvik felt gayer. I don't think Caitvi was less gay than Jayvik, I think it was just harder to route for Caitvi because of the characters actions and caitlyns abusive behaviour. In the Arcane universe, the main power imbalance is between Zaun/piltover and economic classes and this should be considered when analysing the queer representation. Caitlyn is upperclass and piltover first. She repeatedly takes advantage of her privileges so even if it was more reflective of America she is still a great example of someone who is technically gay but not queer, radical or for her community in any way. This makes her very unlikeable but isn't unrealistic or paradoxical. Imo this is quite a realistic portrayal of a gay person of her status. Vi is also interesting and shows how stupid the "change from inside the system" perspective is. I think that the class struggle impacted both Jayvik and Caitvis relationship but because of Caitlyns abuse of power and the fact that Caitvi were in a legit relationship the whole time we saw it more. I personally found it valuable representation to see how social dynamics also impact relationships (intersectionality isn't explored often in lgbt+ representation) and see how femmes can be perpetrators of abuse, as masculinity is more often stereotyped as being more dominant and aggressive. I don't think it's necessary for Caitlyn to be punished by the narrative for it to be an effective representation of abuse, policing, oppression, or genocide. I might be having tunnel vision on my feeds but I didn't perceive or see others perceive Caityn to be the "good guy" or as doing the good thing and I would be worried about someones comprehension skills if they walked away from Arcane rooting for Caitlyn. I found it quite sad that you reduced the lesbians to pink washing and then referred to Jayce and Viktor as lesbians when the reality is that if it wasn't for the lesbians front and centre Jayvik would be considered queerbait. I get the disappointment when you can't route for the lesbian couple or characters but I don't think lgbt+ representation should be limited to likeable perfect queers who can do no wrong if anything that would be more coddling to cishet audiences. You're very articulate and again made some good points so I hope this comes across as discussion and not hate 👍
@@juice5744 omg thank u so much for the response this is great!! honestly i do totally understand where ur coming from with the complexities of cait and vi being super important. they r but i just felt that cait and vi’s arcs where very unsatisfactory and did not really critique the privelage cait had. instead rewarding her with hot sex with her gf lol. i love queer especially lesbian characters that are unredeamable or have done bad shif in their past. it’s much needed representation for a community thats often very shallowly represented mostly as fan service for men. cait isn’t really that for me tho. the show wants us to see her as a good guy who just got manipulated instead of a wealthy capitalist cop with resources that she actually is. but again ty so much for the comment!! :3
@mothtarts1198 no, of course. Its an interesting perspective as I didnt see the show as portraying her as a the good guy. But agree to disagree. I hope you make more of this style of video

caitvi was just fan service as jayvik actually had substance in season 2
Sorry why do you think caitvi just fan service?
