Most awesomeness. These bikes are favs for a number of PD Depts across this country. What this bike can do in practiced hands is absolutely incredible. Nice job.

Obviously, the boxer engine and the gear box have their nit pick characteristics. The BMW gear assist feature is essential and only works smoothly after the whole bike is properly warmed up. I only use the quick shifter on this bike, from third gear up to six . The jerkiness of the gear box ends if you choose the dynamic mode and combined with the road mode on the suspension settings, it turns into butter smoothness. To know this things you have to own the bike. A test ride in never enough.
But you’re right as a first impressions video, it shows how the bike feels at the beginning .
You are absolutely right about the connectivity feature on BMW bikes. It is a pane in the neck and you end using your phone every time with a nice mount and you just use the big tft dashboard for the relevant information, nothing more!
Nice job with your this video 👍🏻

Looking at the video, looks like that seat is set to High position. Once you owned one and get to know the bike, the gear changes become smoother.

Nice review. I have a GSA and I keep going back to look at the RT. Possibly the reason you could flat foot the GS is that the suspension pre-load was set to Minimum, which lowers the bike a bit, rather than Auto or Max.

Great review. Engine sounds just like listening to my GS. 😀

The initial issues with the mapping features are fixed with software upgrades. The initial release of the 23's did have issues.. I had probably one of the first ones to get delivered on the east coast, and they re-flashed everything on the first service. After that it has been flawless.

The GS definitely has a more comfortable riding position, but the RT handles twice as good on mountain roads due to the better rake and trail numbers and the 17" front tire. I had a GS and now have an RT and I prefer the RT because I ride it hard on mountain roads every weekend. The seat has a high position and a low position, so try them both out, but when in the low position, your knees are bent even more.

Makes sense. Yes next time I need to try it on the low position to see the difference. Thank you for watching.

You don’t sit on top of the RT and you don’t sit down in the RT. Its seating position is in the middle, it is a more neutral position. It’s a twin cylinder engine, you feel power pulses, not vibration.

I cannot share your opinion of the negatives on the bike except for the seat. The RT seat since 2005 has never been good. The guick shifter is not as good as the 4 cylinder bikes, true but it does work and its the strong torque that makes it kick on shifts so do you kill power on shifts or do you keep the power rolling and get the strong pull? Four cylinder bikes don’t have that strong down low grunt to kick you in the seat on shifts, big twins do. It’s the same on the GS. If you’re not riding off road, the RT is hands down a better riding experience and more comfortable. If you want the foot pegs lower, there are kits to lower the foot pegs to give you more leg room. But if your crunching road miles day after day, nothing does it like an RT, except for a GoldWing. However a GoldWing could never keep up with an RT in the mountains and it weighs a ton.

Thank you for the info. You sound like someone who owns an RT and has had time to come to this conclusion. As a demo ride I am disclosing every detail I observe. At the end I still like the motorcycle a lot but everyone has their opinions. Now the seat you can change and many other accessories you can change to make it comfy for you, that is on any bike. But if I had a choice between the k1600 or the RT I would pick the RT for sure.

How can you complain about the RT being to tall and then say the GS is the Bike for you, when the GS is even taller.

    • @RideAboutNow
      @RideAboutNow  ปีที่แล้ว

Its the way the bike feels. I can flat foot the GS not the RT because of the tall seat probably.

It allows you to set the distance you can follow the vehicle ahead of you. Once set, it will automatically slow you down if you get too close.

Yup, I think this is going to be the next norm on flagship bikes.

Yuup, when they put it on the Goldwing, I’m there. But, the RT is going to have an auto trans this year, so maybe the RT will replace my Harley.
