I cannot imagine a more fitting set of lyrics to describe the sight of the first white people entering the Red Indians territory after a thousand years of peace with nature. What an unimaginable shock to the system these people were about to endure.
Last year I was teaching English to Tibetan Buddhist refugees in a monastery in Nepal. I played this song for my younger children... so many prepositions
When they come from the over the mountain Yeah we'll run we'll run right around them We've got no guns no we don't have any weapons Just our corn and the children The dust runs, the dark clouds, but not us, but not us While we pay for mistakes with no meaning All your gifts and all your peace is deceiving And still I pay dissolves with believing That peace comes, their peace comes, That peace comes, their peace comes Now that our bones lay buried below us Just like stones pressed into the earth Well we ain't known by no one before us And we begin with this one little birth That grows on, that grows on, that grows on, that grows on Crippled crow, say something for grieving Where do we go Once we start leaving? Well close that wound Or else keep on bleeding And change your tune It's got no meaning
so beautiful... yesterday it suddenly occurred to me that devendra banhart could be the reincarnation of marc bolan - that was the day before i discovered this song, this video, and thus found out there IS indeed a connection - thank you weilderofwords.
Nice sound. oh yes! He is a Child of Rarn isn't he. Listen to Lazy Butterfly, it's just uncannily Bolan/Took. But he is uniquely himself as well, no mistaking, a variety of musical styles. Love him!
@kikstaboo42 OMG i was thinking exactly the same right before i read your comment. What about we pursue that goal together? we might achieve it quicker.
That's not a manson thing dude, thats an early 70's psychedelica vocal style. It's not really so much a falsetto thing, its more of a "bleat vibrato" and charlie didn't really use it as extensively as devendra. However, there are some comparisons, I mean Devendra sorta looks like a prettier version of Manson and there is some timbre similarities not to mention the endless use of acoustic guitar and no electric.
@KurdtCobaine why don't cha just call yer self KurtCocaine? Is it too obvious?

@o0afadingvoice0o wuts taste in music got to do with anything? I'm just factually stating Jefferson Airplane never came close to this. hooray 2k u know?
maybe you weren't the right sex partners both together, sex is like music, musicians and instruments don't sound the same although playing what it could seem the same
Yeah a peace of regurgitated rehashed rear-vowel-sound. Attitude and shaky voice does not a musician make. This man is no musician... a "magician" perhaps...somehow he's got people duped into believing he has talent after all....

ah! finally remembered what it always reminded me. led zep vibe, ramble on!

...and still our pay...
Try opening your ears instead of just cutting and pasting.

that awkward moment when a man is more beautiful than any girl youve ever seen
Marc Bolan meets someone who wishes he was Caetano Veloso.
