I used to live in Llanharry, everyone thought the son in law did it. There is no shortage of unsolved murders in South Wales and some shocking miscarriages of justice.
Sad case. Two lovely people murdered. The daughter Cheryl is either woefully naive or complicit in her parent’s deaths. Jonathan is sketchy, at best, and is probably the killer. All those lies about the trench coat, where he was on the date of the crime, etc. Thank you DC for another well done episode.
I live close to Llanharry. I remember, the day after the murders, watching the TV press conference they released for information. Cheryl & Johnathan were sat with the Police talking. I was sat at home with my Mam. We both turned to each other and said he did it. We were absolutely adamant.
I concur. He lied about the teacup; she backed him up. Ergo, she was involved. If not,how did his fingerprint find its way onto the cup? Greed drives some weak minded people insane.
At the time of the murders, the couple were falling behind on their house repayments and were about to lose their flat, although Jones kept this from Cheryl. And he only had £100 in his bank account… Jones claimed to have had a conversation with a lift engineer at his flat at around 1:30 pm on the day of the murders, but the lift engineer and two others working that day recalled no such conversation and reported being out for lunch at that time. After questioning both Jonathan and Cheryl, police felt that both were withholding and/or fabricating information and said that Cheryl had been dodging almost every question asked of her. 😑

Well funny you should mention the Lynette White case. I think that probably put the whole South Wales criminal justice system into such a tailspin that they started acquitting the guilty in over-reaction.
Long time fan of the channel and I wanted to take the time to say awesome content as always and a huge thank you for the work that you do. Much love from Illinois!
Because they tried to make it look as if someone else had done it, and wrongfully thought that moving, and hiding the bodies would make it look like an unknown murderer had tried to hide their unplanned crime. But instead, as I understand it, moving, and hiding the body usually points towards an organised murderer committing a pre planned murder.
I have no idea why the police would be looking into different barrels for a 12Ga. shotgun that was used with shot shells?……. There is no rifling to match up. About the only thing would be the length of the barrel and if it had a choke. But even that would be negligible from such short of range. Just an odd statement to be made about a shotgun……….Love your work BTW. Been subbed for quite a while!…….
Do you mean the report that Jonathan had a strange reaction to the news that the couple had been murdered? That’s all the police report said, that he showed a “strange reaction”. I guess the actual police report might elaborate.
He did it, didn't he?! It was the son in-law. His evidence was everywhere. The tea cup, the cottage itself, and the sightings of him at & around the time of the murders. His alibi lacked. I also think he earlier took the missing gun. He would have, of course, had the chance to on a previous visit. She was obviously just blinded by love. I still can't see how he was acquitted. There was no justice in this case.
What⁉How and why was Jonathan acquitted after only one year in prison? Not enough evidence to support his quilt? How and why was he convicted then? There are no other suspects. He should be in prison. His wife too most likely.
It sounds like Cheryl was complicit in Jonathan's attack on her parents. There is a chance she was blinded to the truth, but I think she knew and supported the murders for the insurance payout. Sick people.
Poor Cheryl to have to find her parents like that a harmless elderly couple who never bothered anyone only to be brutally murdered I really hate humanity at times

It's always a red flag whenever a family member asks somebody else, viz., the neighbour or friend to make a welfare check on another. Look at it this way - if you can't reach someone in your family and truly have no idea what to make of it, you will either a) try to rationalize their unreachability to avoid panicking, or b) start panicking. If you're able to do the former you will not feel comfortable with asking someone whose job it isn't to go check based on a hunch. If, however, you do the latter then it would feel way too urgent/important to be delegated to anybody but yourself or the proper authorities. You're either not worried, or you are. There is no "I'm worried enough to inconvenience another to make this check for me, but not (yet) worried enough to think of it as an emergency and call 911." There's no such thing as a semi-emergency.
