I've watched many of such videos, but you are the first person that makes excellent sense while explaining this. Thank you so greatly for this tutorial!
You made this look so easy, I even played around and made my own chart. (I have The Weavers Inkle Pattern Directory - but you can't beat seeing it all!). Thank you SO much.
I just wanted to say thank you for such a great video! Your explanation was very clear and easy to understand. Definitely best video I've found so far on TH-cam =D
Thank you very much. I am confused by the difference between which ones you pick up and the chart, probably because I'm used to knitting charts. I will mark the pick up threads with a circle and by going through the video and hopefully will understand after a couple of repeats. Thanks again.
Hi, EdythMiller. Your video is very clear on how to weave in Baltic Style, but how do you warp your Inkle Loom for the Baltic Style Weaving? Do you have a pattern chart on how to warp?
Thank you so much! I'm new to inkle weaving and just finished my first plain weave creation. I picked up (no pun intended!) Heather Torgenrud's Norwegian Pickup Bandweaving and plan to apply her patterns using your pickup techniques on an inkle loom. I think I have a good starting place now, thank you thank you!
You're explanations were the clearest i've found yet! thanks a lot for sharing your wonderful works with us! Yet i still don't understand how you define the way you prepare the treads depending on a pattern (for the initial position etc)?
+Clémence Pochard Check out the first video (warp setup) on this post: edythmiller.blogspot.com/2014/02/baltic-style-pickup-inkle-weaving.html. That might answer your question.
Unbelievably clear and wonderful video. Thank you so much! I see that the base of your loom has a swing out arm, which is so clever. Do you know where I might learn more about that model, or perhaps find plans to make one? (I have access to a woodshop.) Many thanks again!
If I understanding what you're asking, correct. The threads making up the sides of the band are "border" threads and not included in the chart. The chart is only mapping the threads used to create the pickup pattern. All other threads (referred to as background threads in the video) are ignored.
TheWoollady When I do another video, I'll be sure to show the upper portion where I work the sheds. I never considered that I might be doing that fast!
For those of us that are kind of new to the inkle loom, yes, you change the sheds rather fast; I figure you have some kind of shortcut to changing the sheds.
When you put the yarn and your inkle. Loom in your directions does it tell you how many to put on your ankle how many numbers like one ready. To dredge I'm just learning saw this is what I me asking
Hello I like your video and your work I really like a question how can I know how it will go in outline of the work to do it in different drawing megustaria learn I knit backpack but this work could serve me for handle for backpacking could know the outline or drawing for To know thanks for helping
Si.
Good teaching but you are pulling yourweft thread too tightly and it is distorting the pattern. Using yarn for this is easy to see however carpet warp or even crochet thread is better fir an actual band if you’re planning to use it for a project.
No. Tablet weaving uses tablets or cards that have multiple holes in them that are threaded by the warp. The tablets are turned in sequence to create the patterns, twisting the warp threads around the weft as you go. Inkle weaving is a more “plain” type of weave, with a straight-forward up and down weaving technique.
Thank you. I'm a novice, moving from straight weaving to pick up. Your tutorial is very basic and helpful. Thank you again

The best tutorial I have seen for Baltic Style Inkle weaving! Thank you.
Thanks - your tutorial helped me with my first Baltic weave - I attempted 13 pattern threads and it turned out well.
I keep watching. Going to try this coming Thursday at our meeting. I hope I have it. Thank you
Well done. Haven't tried Baltic-Style yet but am going to give it a try. Makes great sense now.
I just wanted to say thank you for such a great video! Your explanation was very clear and easy to understand. Definitely best video I've found so far on TH-cam =D
Thank you for this very nice video! It was very easy to follow and just what I needed to clearly understand pickup.

You are a very good teacher! Thank you!
Explained perfectly. Thank you!
You made that easy to understand, thank you
I must be dense. I’m seeing more strands/pairs of strands than there are in the pattern. 🤯
This is a slightly easier way than I was taught, I had to swap background and pattern threads over instead of dropping or bringing up

Hi Edyth,
I was wondering if you could do a tutorial from the very beginning...setting up the warp and starting the first shed?
Trying to learn my first pick-up. So the first/last 2 threads are not on the chart?
If I understanding what you're asking, correct. The threads making up the sides of the band are "border" threads and not included in the chart. The chart is only mapping the threads used to create the pickup pattern. All other threads (referred to as background threads in the video) are ignored.

So do you feed the string over or under the border strings?@@EdythMiller
Great tutorial!
Thanks from Chile💖
You actually teach while other You Tubers humble brag. This is sticking.
I would like to see how you change the sheds on the loom so fast
between the pattern picks.

Really helpful
Very nice! But I'd like to know how to warp to get to this point for Baltic.
You can see that here: th-cam.com/video/pJRick_BAQ8/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for the video.

Esta es una prueba mas de que en el pasado precolombino hubo intercambio cultural entre los Mapuche y los vikigos, Como en el Báltico se teje Ñimikan
