In my case worked the opposite - unchecked keep with next and then two pieces of the table on different pages magically linked.

Better option would be to use *Repeat First row/ Header row* option.
Well why do so much hassle, you can rather use a section break just before the captions
Section breaks can sometime add unnecessary spacing after it depending on its location.
