I LOVE your channel and research! I think I'm about your age too, and I'm following tokusatsu since days when there was very little information. I just knew that Jishi Kamen had great music, but not that the season had been split! You are the BEST!

Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words!
Yeah, back in the day-80s through the 90s-all I had to go by were a handful of fanzines, Japanese books I found here and there and 6th generation VHS copies from various broadcasts. These created a wonderful mystique around many of the less popular or obscure shows. It's so much easier now to get into the history of these characters and shows thanks to the many contributions of fans and people in the industry.
Thank you again.😀 I'll continue to to try my best to surface the history of tokusatsu through the channel.

I really like your videos!! It seems that you've stopped posting new videos, it'll be sad when I watch the last one, you've introduced me to lots of interesting toku shows and films, a lot I had no idea existed.

Thank you for your kind words! Also, fear not, a new video is dropping in the next few days, the History of Fireman.
In the meantime make sure to check out some of the shorts we’ve added the last few weeks.

It's a very catchy opening song for sure! Always a good thing when Ichirou Mizuki sings the opening to one of these shows.

Here in Hawaii, I watched Tokusatsu during the 1970s with English subtitles. But in all the different series, Not even one was any of the Jidai-geki type--so I never saw Shiro Jishi or Henshin Ninja Arashi or Akakage.
My only disappointment with Shiro Jishi is that he uses a whip instead of a sword. It's just a matter of personal preference as I'm a very avid fan of Chambara, such as the Nemuri Kyoshiro versions starring either Tamura Masakazu or Kataoka Takao. I'm still trying to find Subtitled versions of O-Edo Sosamo starring Matsukata Hiroki, and the series Matsudaira Ukon starring Satomi Kotaro. Hopefully you can direct me to sources since you seem knowledgeable about Jidai-geki.
Hopefully you can cover the toku-jidai geki series Henshin Ninja Arashi as it had great Sword action--chambara.
Another favorite Chambara is Kurama Tengu. It's Not tokusatsu but the hero wears a hood, so it's somewhat of a superhero, if you know what I mean. This is Classic jidai-geki as it began filming in the era of Silent-movies. I even notice that TH-cam has the Silent film of Kuruma Tengu starring Arashi Kanjuro, who became so popular that he even created his own production studio! So I was wondering if you have any knowledge of that character as well as the numerous different actors who portrayed him?

Awesome, thank you for sharing these insights and reference points. I'll do my best to track down and cover some of the programs you outlined. Kurama Tengu looks really interesting! (I was not familiar with the character until I read through your comment)

I don't believe this series has ever been subtitled, at least in North America. However, I would not be surprised if it eventually a fansub surfaces for it.
