this repair was such a pain in the A! I had huge problems putting back rubber wheels supporting the tube. And also the zoom does not work as before. It works in the range of 14-17 mm. But it was still worth it, considering no repairs from nikon itself...

Hi, Just wondering, the flash tube has three wires. You showed two being soldered in. Where did you solder the third one? Thanks

Hi, wonder if you happen to know what the PCB E in the SB800 manual is for? It connects to the yellow connector(next to the blue connector) on the main circuit board(PCB A). Couldn't find any information anywhere...
I couldn't switch my flash on 80% of the time, so I opened it up to check if there is any loose connection or components. However, I accidentally broke one of the two pins in the yellow connector(Doh!) in the process. However, the flash seems to be working normally, minus the pin, after I put them back together(so far, I still can turn it on the whole day long without issue).
    Many Thanks for any input

What's the length and diameter of the glass part of the flash tube?

There is no mention of the trigger wire that you see the guy holding the flash tube by. That is the real beast of this job. How do you attach that to the inductor that it sits by without ruining the whole flash unit. He completely skips this critical operation.

+Edward Monroe it was soldered to the inductor the same way as the other two sides. Just slide the new flashtube in, solder on the white and pink wires, and then when everything is in place, solder the trigger wire to the inductor the same way as the original was. I probably skipped it when editiíng the video. Wasnt intentional, didnt even notice it until now. Its been ages since I did this repair and only noticed now that how many people asked questions about the process.

+Robert Nemeti . I really got hung up on this part of the repair as the trigger wire seemed to pull loose from the inductor and still be connected to a grey wire that I could not see where the other end was connected. I hate to disassemble my other 800 unit to check this out.

Ha, well it may have been too long ha. But had no volt meter to meter it, so I did the extra safe way. Was definitely discharged haha

there is definitely something going on in the meantime ... a small fight, which has produced so many parts ;)
