I always wondered about this subject of first class mail and all (and my dad was a letter carrier from the late 80's to about 2004) and I rarely asked him what first class meant, and maybe all I remembered that it's "regular letters". This definitely helps with all the visuals. I feel I also understand quite a bit more even when having a bit of not as great short-term memory too
That's really cool! I'm glad we could help you better understand First Class mail. There's so much to it and your dad probably knows even more about it than what we've covered in this video :)
Answered all my questions
Glad it helped! :)

@@InnominateKraken I do have a question though! How many ounces does a non-machinable stamp cover?
I'm not entirely sure of it myself, but looking through USPS' FAQ's an old page from 2007 says the max is 3.5 ounces and another says the butterfly non-machinable stamp is up to 2 ounces.
Thank you so much!
Happy it helped :)
Great info great job!👊🏻
Thanks, glad it helped!
Very clear video keep going!!

Awesome thanks a lot.

Ridiculous how this video is supremely and superiorly better than 10 minutes of googling and using USPS’ awful excuse for a website.

Well put together and very informative! Thank you! It would be nice if we can do the shipping label for First class mail in our USPS account, so we don't have to go to the post office.

great video. it helps me a lot!! thanks
Thank you!! Glad it helped :)
I thought that my bubble mailer with a phone case inside would count as a large envelope because it was just under 3/4 inch thick, but it has to be a package Because it's not bendable. Thanks for the video it's nice!!
Glad we could help clarify things :)
I LIKE YOU. NICE VOICE. NO YELLING.
thank you
Happy to help :)
@@InnominateKraken you are a very hice person , i wish you good health
I've mailed homemade envelope s that maybe been a little bigger/odd shaped. And they got there or didnt come back with my return label. If the person owed postage on the other end I never hard about it. I just use 2_4 forever stamps. may not always need 2, but would rather go over than under
When she talked of the mail stream, what she was saying was you can't do a unibomber, or drop off your package with stamps in a drop box. USPS was lucky his bombs never went off in a drop box, employees and bystanders could have been hurt or worse.
Could you do a video?
On Nonautomation Machinable AADC
And How to meter using AADC.Mixed AADC
Please let me knoe does USPS issue notices to customers especislly upon requedt of pri t out to ppl?
Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Hi, great video I have a question. I’m going to start sending three-dimensional heart charms by first class mail and because they would tip on their side. I was thinking to use a padded large envelope. Does that sound like the right strategy to you? They are a quarter inch high but because of the three-dimensional heart shape they would tip to the side they’re not flat. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
Love this video! Can you explain about parcel postage? I have been sending wedding invitations out for clients for 10 years now. Everything used to be large envelope if flexible / bendable then price as large envelope. If not bendable or too thick to go through the slot it is considered parcel which starts at $3.50 for up to 3.5 ounces. Then from there you add the first class ounce cost for each additional ounce. In the past year I have not seen any consistency with pricing. One office just told us that prices are given only based on weight and zipcode. Trying to learn the methodology behind the different ways a post office might determine pricing. Can you help with this? Explain non bendable large envelopes. Or even non bendable small envelopes. Also the surcharges of a bulge (like a wax seal).
Hello friend can you please let me on my mail
If the large envelope is not bendable even if it fits through the "slot" (less than 3/4 inch) it is considered a parcel. To be considered a large envelope it must be bendable & a consistent thickness throughout. A small envelope can be rigid & does not have to be a consistent thickness as long as it fits through the "slot" (less than 1/4 inch). However, it will have to have a non-machinable surcharge added to it. That is also the case with a wax seal. Even if the envelope with a wax seal is less than 1/4" thick it is still considered non-machinable & requires a surcharge. Hope that helps.
@@MyBadHabit94 They put all my non machinable envelopes through the machine anyway and destroyed my items! I even wrote non machinable on it... paid extra and it did it to about 13 envelopes. Made a complaint and they just blamed it on the distribution center. Lost so much time and money!
I mailed two apology notes to two of the teachers I had in elementary school a week ago. One was a guidance counselor, and the other was a music teacher. I apologized to the guidance counselor for lying to her, and I apologized to the music teacher for calling him evil. But guess what? They have never written back yet, and they probably never will. The guidance counselor still works at the elementary school I attended for 1st grade through 4th grade. The music teacher retired in 2014. I put stamps on the letters and everything. How much longer am I supposed to wait?
Constructive advice: "Illegible" is not the same as "Eligible". :)
My FIRST CLASS envelope is lost or stolen. 10 days ago I mailed it inside the USPS in Georgia but it never arrived. No tracking. What options do I have?
This is a great video with detailed information. I was wondering if bubble mailer falls under first class envelopes? Like the ones on Amazon that are colors, not USPS created ones. It follows all the measurement requirements but I wasn't sure if it would be classified as a package or envelope.
It depends how thick the bubble mailer is when the item is inside of it. If it's 3/4 inches thick or more then it's considered a First Class package. If it's less than that and therefore flat in nature, then it's considered a First Class flat envelope.
1 question so if I have the bubble mailer ready with addresses on it but no way to print prepaid postage shipping label online can I bring the bubble mailer with addresses on it to post office and will they print out a shipping label for first class?
Did you pay for the postage on USPS' Click-N-Ship or another shipping services website? Not sure what other websites do, but with Click-N-Ship you have the option to get a QR code sent to your phone so that when you go to the post office they can scan it and print out the label for you. There's no other way they can print a label out for you. Also when you have a prepaid shipping label the addresses are usually on it already so you don't need to add them on the package (unless you don't have a prepaid label, then yeah you'd need to write the addresses out and have the post office ring you up the postage).
I have a 10 1/2 x16. Front say ready post. The back has a red stamp also marked utility mailer want to know do I have to put more postage on front. I am a bit confused with instruction
If it's a bubble mailer/padded envelope, it'll most likely count as a First Class (if it's less than 13 oz) or Priority package. Either way you'll need to use their Price Calculator to figure out what the exact postage should be: bit.ly/3CfNAfC
At 6:21 we go over the Price Calculator and what bubble mailers fall under, hope it helps!
If you buy stamps from usps do they put the stamp in letter for yiu
You have to put the stamps with the correct amount of postage on the envelope yourself.
Amazing video, super informative. Just one question, do these forever stamps include tracking?
Thanks! Unfortunately Forever stamps and First Class mail don't include tracking. The only form of "tracking" you can get is if you purchase an extra service called Certified Mail. We have a how-to on that here: th-cam.com/video/3oMGCLyOZy8/w-d-xo.html
@@InnominateKraken thank you very much for the info!
Hello! I'm sending a good ol' letter and I'm just wondering if we HAVE to use a forever stamp or if we can just combine a couple of personal stamps to add up to .55?
Oh yeah for sure! You don't have to use the Forever stamps, you can totally use other stamps that add up to the current letter postage which is $0.63.
What if the large manila envelope has a metal clasp?
This site (bit.ly/3epDRuU) that has a guide to mailing envelopes said: Envelopes with clasps are considered non-machinable envelopes and must be hand-canceled. Even if your clasp envelope weighs less than 1 oz, you will be charged a non-machinable surcharge.
Can you use nonmachinable stamps for Canada?
I believe so...their website mentions non-machinable stamps in the international mail sections.
Do we get tracking by sending a large envelope via the post office?
First Class Mail doesn't have tracking unless it's a First Class package. So unless the large envelope is thick enough to be considered a package, then no. You can however purchase a service called certified mail and/or a return receipt to know if it was delivered: th-cam.com/video/3oMGCLyOZy8/w-d-xo.html
i anciently put the first class letter with forever stamp into a priority mail bin slot at the USPS office is that ok?
I'm sure other people have done the same and that they'll just sort it regardless
Hello, so if an envelope weighs 1.5 ounces can I use 1 forever stamp and 1 additional ounce stamp?
Yep you totally could!
Thank you so much for this great video. Their website makes no sense!
Glad it was helpful! :)
So if I'm shipping single sports cards should I just get forever stamps and plain white envelopes?
I’ve never sold cards before, but these are some good tips/guides:
bit.ly/3c1msHI
(in this video, the second commenter gives really good additional tips)
bit.ly/3NS3UH7
bit.ly/3bZshp5
But yes, if you use a white envelope and you can use Forever stamps.
Can I use a forever stamp for a postcard instead of a postcard stamp?
Yep, totally!
So I am mailing a letter internationally to South Korea and I bought the international stamps at the USPS Kiosk. But instead of the flowers it gave me a stamp with a barcode is it the same thing?
Yep, that's completely fine. They actually use the barcode to see if the postage has been used more than once. It'll supposedly cut down on fraud and remove hand cancellation in the future.
