      I'm no master chemist, believe me, but having an interest in these things certainly helps. I use a bulk pork gelatin powder from a local chain called "Bulk Barn". I'm not sure if it exists in the US, but I'm sure you've got twenty others if it doesn't. It's 100% pure gelatin and very cheap.

    If I am understanding correctly the samples varied by increasing the amount of hydrogen peroxide without decreasing the amount of water? Or did the H2O2 replace some of the water? It would stand to reason that add you increased the H2O2 w/o decreasing the water the gel would lose its 'stiffness'. Wondering if you replaced water with H2O2 if the resulting gel would be shelf stable for longer. Additionally the resulting gel could be melted and resolidfied to lose the bubbles.

    Thank you so much for this video man. Im making a biomedical project thats gonna mimic the neck and I appreciate your videos so much.
    I understand the gel with hydrogen peroxide had almost no change after 3 weeks at room temp. It would probably last a lot longer when cooled but is there any information you have or personal experience on how long it would last refridgerated or frozen?

    • @TATVCanada
      @TATVCanada  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No problem and good luck with your project. The Hydrogen peroxide helps more with clarity than preservation. If you're looking for the longest possible shelf life I'd use the proprionic acid. It smells kind of vinegar-y, but I had a block of gel last roughly a year at room temp in the garage without spoiling.
      I did try freezing it as well, the only thing I'll caution you with that is it will start to dry out after a while, particularly if there's a lot of open air space around it. I'd wrap it in saran wrap first if it's going to spend any serious time in the freezer.

      @@TATVCanada Btw at 3:05 to 3:30 of your video, the part with 3 different samples. Do both of the samples besides the control sample have proprionic acid in them?

    Tetra Acetyl Ethylene Diamine (TAED) might be an effective bleaching agent, it is used in non-bleach detergents. Additionally, TAED and hydrogen peroxide will form peroxyacetic acid - peroxyacetic acid is a more efficient bleaching agent and also has bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal properties and might alleviate the necessity of proprionic acid. If you can get peroxyacetic acid, this might be all you need.
