A loading shovel burns 1800 gallons of fuel in a 12 hour shift. This machine is required to move 500,000 pounds of earth in order to get the minerals needed for one single Tesla car battery. How can this be called a green deal?
Fiat have announced that they have shut the Fiat 500 ev production line down again due to the lack of sales and Nissan and Mitsubishi are about to be shafted by owners Renault due to poor sales on the EV side.
You realise that the ZEV mandate wasn't put in place by the present government. Can we have another go at the EU question too while we're at it? That one seems to have changed a lot. Asking for a general election three months in is just showing a lack of understanding of how things work.
EV's are, at best, an alternative. They definitely NOT a 'solution' to anything. Folks should be able to chose and not be bullied. Manufacturers should supply a demand and not be threatened, bullied or penalised, for not supplying the 'right' thing.
On Saturday, I drove my 2016 XE2.0t petrol Jaguar from Windermere, 64 miles by the way of Kirby Lonsdale and Long Preston to Langho near Blackburn, only 2 minutes longer than by the M6, 42.3 mpg. 6.88 litres, £9.21.
VW group not looking great either and most Chinese manufacturers are struggling to sell cars in their own country as their people are waking up to the lie.

After watching Geoff buys cars my motor is nowt but a teenager and my 15 year old car passed its MOT this year and my insurance went down £4 happy days 😊
I do own an EV and agree with you. My wife hates waiting to supercharge so we only go within range of the car. With the bad weather in certain parts of the world can't they put canopy to protect from the elements? Have a great holoday.
That depends really, as most of the suppliers sell OEM parts for existing cars on the road that they sell to motor factors and stores. The more people keeping the old cars on the road, the more demand for parts for these cars.
Looking at the car news Renault group are having to strongly consider the position of both Nissan and Mitsubishi in their group as both are underperforming. Possibly it's due to the going EV part and possibly because of Renault's control over the company. But looking at the current Nissan line up not many exciting cars to choose from like there was in the past.
Australia used manufacture their own cars many years ago now in Australia we import cars. So sad many people were laid off at the time thanks to the government like you said it’s all about government control.
You were saying about how much it cost you for charging,I have a focus 1.0 ecoboost,I have a 18 mile each way commute to work,I filled up at Costco this morning, cost me £52 & it’s been three & half weeks since I last filled up,even if wanted an electric car(which I don’t) I can’t charge it at home,so that’ll be time out of my day to charge it,if the government are saying “you should get an electric car”, then I won’t be listening to them.
I have two Vauxhall Vivaro vans, which were built in Luton in 2016. With company changes the current Vivaro built in Luton is a rebadged Peugeot. The. model I have is still, made, but in France and branded Renault. Both of my vans have done over 250000 miles each. What chance I would get that from an EV. They are also Fridge vans, no chance of getting an EV , fit for purpose.
I was depressed today, dismal, dreary, cloudy, wet weather all day and having withdrawals from Geoff not having posted anything up 😭 I saw your title and thought, that looks good, but it's awfully long. Range of petrol & diesel is only affected if you have the air conditioning on, but if you just use the normal heater and fan, the range is unaffected. I keep daily records of energy sources and issue a monthly report and you should know that Gas provided 40% of the electricity in November, but only 20% came from renewables, so if you think that you are saving CO2 in an electric car, think again. You may also like to know that 8% came from burning wood in the Drax power station, which uses up to 70,000 tons of wood per day, imported from the USA in bulk carrier ships, that for every hour of running, they emit the same amount of CO2 as 20,000 vehicles.
“Seen through glass” did a review of the new Macan Turbo today, he picked it up from Porsche, they had charged it to 100% for him. He was saying the claimed range is 365 miles ish, because of the weather the range on the clock in the car was only 260 ?
Lee great video so far as I'm still watching it. Yes with ICE the heat is a by product of the combustion and bar the fan used to bring the heat in the car it has no effect whatsoever on the mileage range
The proper way round is for the car industry to react to what the public demand - it is NOT for the government to dictate to the public and manufacturers how they invest or spend their money on.
The government will just keep increasing the cost of motoring for petrol and diesel users till they have no option but to give up the car, and we will forced into monthly subscriptions for electric cars. If you don't pay the car automatically goes back to the company with self driving tech. You will be on holiday come back to the car from the hotel only to notice it isn't there anymore as you forgot the payment was due and the company recalled the car. You will be stranded. Have to pay an emergency fee for the return of the car of have insurance that covers payments for the car instead of insurance for crashes.
If the the UK turned to fully electric cars tomorrow it would make didly squat to the worlds CO2 emissions. We are not a major player in manufacturing of anything, compared to big boys, and we know who they are.
Saw an article online from a major newspaper. It said by 2030 ICE drivers would hav3 to plan their journeys as there would be fewer petrol stations and they would be further apart. So if I drove from Manchester to Dover I'd struggle to find a petrol station even though I could get there and back on a full tank. If used my gerry can I could go from John o groats to Lands End without refuelling and I wouldn't find a petrol station? That's misinformation
At least the allowed hybrids to be extended, but I can’t believe that they put in a firm target when the technology isn’t there; with no sign it will be there.
I'd think if you didn't do much mileage per week then an ev would be ok..The issue is how quickly they depreciate in value and nobody seems to want a used ev.
35 minutes to charge to 98 percent 😂😂😂 in the cold nearly dark on your own and no toilets if Porsche showroom is closed 😅 no way would I want my wife out there in the dark cold raining on her own charging taking over 30 minutes to get home what a nightmare especially how unsafe the UK is now

He didn’t lose that money, the finance company did. He just pays his £1200 a month to them then after the 48 months are over he gives back the car and walks away.
Lee, I need your help. My daughter is disabled and due in the next couple of years to renew her motability car they are pushing disabled drivers to go electric, if they want a petrol or diesel car they have to pay a large deposit but here lies the problem. Many electric car charging points are not usable if you are disabled, so you might have to go further to look for one. Also my daughter gets anxious now if she's running low on petrol but at least she can get to a petrol station I can only imagine what it's going to be like if she had an electric car. She would stop driving altogether thus loosing the independence she gains from driving in the first place.

It's getting to the point where the dealer networks will collapse next, Jaguar just killed off 75% of theirs.
