    Is there any alternate and ligature feature on ipad version?

    Hi, Miss Karen! I truly appreciate your tutorial and review of this app. Your guidance has assisted my creative journey throughout the years.
    Other than the ability to edit with nodes, I would love to see this app add the ability to export as ttf file instead of only otf files. I realize I could use a free converter online. However, this additional feature would make my workflow more seamless.
    Thanks again for always providing valuable content. XO

    I agree! Such a great app. I've wanted to try my hand at font design and now I am able to do it fairly easily. Thank you so much for sharing!

      My pleasure! And yes I totally agree - it’s so easy and fun to create a font with this app - and you don’t need any other apps 😄🤗

    I downloaded and bought this app even before the video was done! Thank you, so much, Karin for making such awesome videos and for being someone I heave learned so much from and have come to trust. I also love your practice sheets!

      @fontself 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much Wendy, what wowed you right away in the video? And did your first experience with the app meet this initial excitement?

    • @wendywatching
      @wendywatching 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fontself I had an ongoing interest in creating fonts, but thought it would be too complex to learn. When I started watching the video, I got the sense right away this was going to an app that would be easy to use. When Karin showed the templates, I bought it. When she likened it to Procreate, I got excited. I've only used it a bit today and created one rough-looking font. I'm inspired to learn the art of font making and I think this app is going to be the perfect tool to practice.

    I've been using this app for a few days and a few features that I find are missing would be to be able to import image that translates directly into the shape without having to redraw it within the app. I've seen the plugin on illustrator work that way so it's definitely possible. Also having a choice of different brushes like textures ones would be awesome because right now you have to draw everything by hand, it's very time consuming if you want a hand drawn effect. Also I can't find a way to sign the fonts I make. It would be nice to be able to attach a digital signature to our fonts for obvious reasons. I have not been able to find a way to do that and I've searched for it but it doesn't seem to exist.

      Ahh, I'm so sorry it's not available in Singapore yet :( I'm tagging Franz from @fontself and hopefully he'll be able to let you know when it will arrive! Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏼

    Ooh I can't wait to try this! It'd be great if they eventually support cursive script fonts at some stage. I've used Glyph before and the process just took so long, having pressure-sensitive vector brushes sounds like a dream.

    • @iPadLettering
      @iPadLettering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly!! I’m so impressed with the vector brushes, they are really like a dream. And yes - being able to create script fonts is on my wish list too! Hopefully many people will request this feature, haha! 😄🤗

    I totally agree! Such a great app! I did my first don’t (that I was really proud of in it). I started trying to do several times my fonts, but this app is so user friendly that I was able to finish. It’s not the perfect font, but it turned out really nice. I’m currently doing another one.

    • @iPadLettering
      @iPadLettering  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is so nice to hear! And you know what - fonts don’t have to be perfect 😇 Sometimes it’s exactly the little imperfections that make it a great font! 🥰🤗

    I downloaded and paid for this app, but was super disappointed I didn't have access to the nodes after using iFonts and vector software. But after watching your video, I'm going to give it another try. I wish they'd implement more of my favorite stuff from iFonts, like the ability to insert a photo, to use a font already installed on your computer as a guide. I also love the ability to add ligatures, which I just recently learned you can do in iFonts. My biggest issue with iFonts is I'd like to be able to have better brushes and a way to import directly from Procreate in both apps. That would be a huge game changer. I'm a lefty, and I've yet to find an app that truly represents my handwriting as well as Procreate. A textured brush would be a game changer also.
    *I just went back and played around in it, and for sans serif and serif fonts, I think it's awesome. I'm just don't see myself being able to use it easily to make script fonts. That may just be me, but I need a bit more control over my glyphs than simply what I can draw with the brush. My hands shake too much even with the streamline due to my medical condition. I hope the devs read this and are able to implement some of this stuff because I think it has massive potential to disrupt the tediousness of font making in the best of ways.
    I didn't realize there was a free version, so I bought it right away. Did you mention what the differences were between the free and paid? I might have missed it. There was a lot going on around me when I watched.

      Hi, thanks for the detailed review. The app is just 3 months old so please expect it to improve vastly over time (and rest assured we will bring 15+ years of expertise in this field to make it one of the most fun & magical app for type lovers ever).
      We will take some time to address each point you mention as we aim to find the best & easiest solutions, and thats implication of complex matters takes time ;)
      And as for pricing, it's free to download and to create any number of typefaces, and you just pay once to export the fonts, so just $9.99 for unlimited fonts (there is a disclaimer that details the difference the first time you open the app).
      Hope that clarifies your questions.

    • @Artsygoons
      @Artsygoons 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fontself yes, that helps and is amazing. I just downloaded and paid immediately thinking there wasn’t a free option since it popped up to pay right away, but who wants a font they can’t export. I appreciate it is a one time fee and no subscription. Thank you for that! I also own your Illustrator and Photoshop extension, but I am not as proficient on those softwares as I am on my iPad apps.
      I would be most excited to have nodes, I think and maybe a little more streamline if not nodes. There are little places at the ends and beginnings of my lines that I would straighten up if I could. In the meantime, I will try to use the combo of the eraser and Monoline pencil to do the trick.
      I look forward to watching you grow, and I appreciate you are taking our feedback into consideration. It is exciting to know we are getting to play a role in that aspect.

      @@Artsygoons Our roadmap on the desktop extension has been impacted over the last 6 years by the daily conversations we have with all users who dare to speak up ;) We must of course balance and have sometimes had to pause indefinitely some advances, but we're really playing the long term game here, so as long as we have a growing base of supporters, we'll be able to write these new chapters of the democratization of type together. One step after the other.
      And FYI, one can enjoy drawing fonts and getting used to the app for free, can post creatives messages for free, and more in the future, so we'll serving all users, paid or not, many more treats... Stay tuned!

    Thank you for this review. I would also love to have the ability to play with nodes in the app to clean up the letters, help streamline them more, make straight lines, circles, etc.. It would be great if we could import some designs or images we have worked on to use as a guide. (A big wish, would be to also have your software for Affinity Designer. :) )

    • @iPadLettering
      @iPadLettering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Now this feels a lot like the Procreate philosophy. One off price, really easy to use, excellent functionality. I loved trying this out and of course I'm going to upgrade.
    and I'm off to find out a little more about the company behind it. Fab!
