this is going to be a long comments, I'm going to answer every question asked at the end of the video-
1. why did she drink the blood and collect it in a bowl
- There was once an asura named Raktabeeja. Rakta = blood and beeja = seed. He had acquired a boon from Lord Bramha, that wherever his blood fell, a new raktabeeja would emerge. So as to not let his blood touch the ground, Mahakaali collected his blood in a bowl, and drank it so the blood could not fall even if the bowl fell over. timestamp : 4:12
2. How many Enemies did she kill and who were they?
- There are almost 1001 avataars of the devi, and i cannot explain all, so I will only jot down the ones show in the video. The first one was Shumbh and Nishumbh, two asuras who were brothers, and also the main competition. After acquiring a boon from Lord Bramha to not be killed at the hands of a man, they assumed they were immortal, for women were mistaken to be weak. So when these two asuras starting taking over the world, Gauri took the form of Kali and led them to their doom. timestamp : 2:55 (nishumb) 5:45 (shumbh)
The second one was Raktabeeja (explained above)
the third one was Hingol. He was a asura who tried to hurt Devi's children, Kartikeya and Ganesha. Ganesha cried out for his mother when Hingol tried to hurt him, and Devi, in the form of Hinglaaj Mata emerged from one of the 51 shaktipeeths and killed the demon, thus saving her children. The hinglaj temple is known to be one of the oldest temples in the world, and is located in Pakistan. Every years, thousands of Mother's children travel to Pakistan to offer their prayers. timestamp : 6:44
The third one, I kinda forgot his name but he kinda tried to hurt Lakshmi (lady in red lehenga, one the four ladies who stood beside Kali) who was Gauri's sister in Law, so that turned Devi's head a full 180 degree out of anger, because you don't go around hurting Devi's sisters. the Fourth one was Chanda and Munda. They were Nishumbh and shumbh's people, who went to "drag Parvati to their king" because she refused to marry him. Underestimated Devi's powers and were thus met with their dooms too. Timestamp : 4:35
The fifth one is Demon Daruka, who forced his wife, who was a bhakt of the Devi to ask her for a boon, where she would be the queen of the forest they lived in, and the forest would obey her words. Then he proceeded to force his wife to lure over Devi in the form of Kali and tried to defeat her, which resulted in him meeting his doom. timestamp : 4:52
the sixth one was Tarkasur, who had a boon that only Lord Shiva's son will be able to kill him. Mother Kali assumed the form of a spear and her son, kartikeya, use the spear to defeat him. Timestamp : 4:56
The Seventh one was Mahishasura. He was the buffalo demon who also has a boon that only a woman will be able to kill him, and proceeded to conquer the entire world and hurt the devas. Thus Devi assumed the form of Durga, or Sherawali as some might call. She was created by the unified energies of the Tridevas, Bramha, Vishnu,and Shiva. She had a lion as her vahana, and she killed mahishasura, relieving the three world of his torture. Timestamp : 5:58
The Eight one was Narkasura. Now here is controversial Asura. Some say he was killed by krishna and satyambha, while some say he was killed by Maa Kamakhya (a form of Parvati). I personally believe he was killed twice, as he was reborn, once by Krishna and once by kamakya. I'll tell you guys the Kamakhya version. So this fool of an asura went on to capture Lakshmi, who was Narayana's wife and Parvati's sister in law, to acquire wealth (Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth). He had a boon that all his kids would be immortal, so he went on to capture 16000 women who he decided to make kids with. Right when he was about to perform his nasty acts, every woman of the 16000 women started their periods together. His people told him that a very powerful Goddess has arrived, and from the cracks of his lair emerged Maa Kamakya, The Goddess of the desire. She represents the female womb, and thus controls periods, child birth and the act of intercourse. She is seated on A lotus, with Six heads and ten arms. Her feet touch Lord Shiva's chest, who lies on a lion below her. She hold a weapon in each hand, and bowl full of blood in the front. She, assisted by Bhayankar Bhairava, killed Narkasur, liberating Lakshmi and the 16000 women. But the 16000 women decided to turn the cave into a temple for Maa Kamakhya and spend the rest of their lives there, worshipping her. Timestamp : 6:07
The ninth one was Malla and mani. They tricked devi Matangi (a form of Devi parvati) to be born again as Devi Mahalsa. They intended to Capture the devi and extract her powers, but to remind Devi of everything, Shiva took the form of Martanda Bhairav and ascended to the earth. A fierce love story took place between them and they proceed to kill Malla and provide Moksha to Mani, since Mani was a genuine devi bhakt and manipulated by his brother to perform wrong deeds. timestamp : 6:22
The tenth one was Madnasur, who had a boon that whatever he would say would come true. With such a power he kept torturing people and ultimately attacked Devi's son Kartikeya. Devi in the Form of Baghlamukhi Chopped off his tongue. Devi is clad is yellow, and is thus also called pitambara (the one in yellow). She has four arms, One holding madnasur's tongue, One holds a Sword, one holds a mace and the one a bowl of blood. She puts the thought process of her opponent to a stop, and thus is also called shatru budhhi stambhini. Timestamp : 6:49
3. Who were the Four ladies in the back?
One of them ( left to Kali) was Lakshmi, Vishnu's wife and one of the tridevi. On the extreme left was Devi Varahi, one of Devi's Avataars. on the right to Kali was Saraswati. Wife of Bramha and one of the tridevi and on the extreme left was Bhoomi Devi.
4. What are the meanings of each weapon in each hand?
a severed head = destruction of human ego
a bowl of blood = sacrifice to spirits
abhaya mudra = to remove fear
Varada mudra = to provide blessings
Kharga = to cut of human attachments with the world
Chakra = that she is the centre of the universe
Sword = the sharpness of intellect enjoining humans
bow and arrow = potential and kinetic energy respectively
Thunderbolt = determination
snake = consciousness and the masculine energy of Lord Shiva
club or axe = the power to destroy as well as create
mace = love, loyality, and spirituality
conch = primordial sound of the universe, Om
Lotus = Purity
Trishula = the three elements humans are made of, Tamas (inactivity) , Rajas (hyperactivity), and Sattva (positivity and purity). Also represents the three worlds.
5. Who was the Devi with Lord Shiva on Horse back?
