"Hobbies are supposed to be expensive" LOL So true. 😛 Thanks for the unboxing vid. I've always been interested in Napoleonics and know enough about it to be dangerous. The Nappy learning curve seems so high! The Epic line interests me because it seems like I can get away with small mistakes in uniform painting! 😛
Have to say that though a bit turned off by Warlord’s epic kit initially (didn’t get why they insisted on the odd scale for the ACW releases) I’m really coming round to their Napoleonic stuff. It’s lovely kit isn’t it. Maybe it’s because I have a lot of Peter Pig stuff in “true” 15mm but the scale for this looks bang on to me. These are good vids Alex 👍 (also - is your right eye alright? You take care mate)
I was the same as you, but TBH, you can't get better bang for your buck than these, IMO. There may be other equally lovely figures out there (AB, for inst), but these are cheap and certainly paint well. Thanks James, my eye is currently suffering from a burst blood vessel, nothing worse than that.
It's not something I've really considered, but both the British and French infantry are wearing the later versions of the respective uniforms, so neither of those really...
I just wish they would finish releases for the Waterloo campaign. Still no Brunswickers, no Hanoverians, no Nassau, no Netherlands. That is over a third of the allied army not represented. They still dont have kneeling line infantry or highlanders to model squares.
@@StormofSteelWargaming I've phoned them and they have no plans. After 4(?) years it is conspicuous and starting to look xenophobic especially as they are moving onto the peninsular war. It is the one thing stopping so many playing.
I've been proxying Austrians by giving the French sprues a thin coat of white paint just to differentiate them - the Austrian line infantry eventually switched to the shako. Did a simple skirmish with them against a buddy's french troops to recreate part of Leignitz. Its obviously not perfect but who knows how long it will be until Warlord makes Epic Austrians?
Jeez, i would love to start with Epic Napo or Epic Pike n Shotte, but I'm still caught in the WH40k Nightmare with my son 😭 And i don't want to start a new project until this pile of Fantasy Stuff is gone...
I've not been able to decide how to get into Naps. A great period because of the beautiful uniforms and majestic battles. The problem is that you can't have both. Anything under 28mm starts to become too granular so far as the distinctions in the uniform, but (despite the Sharpe series) 28mm Napoleonic skirmishes are. IMHO.... stupid looking. And so far as realistic looking battles go, you'd spend the rest of your life and savings on armies that would be impossible to game. That takes you to micro scales such as 2mm-6mm where truly huge battles can be achieved without investing too much time or treasure, but as far as depicting Napoleonic troops... if you tell me those blobs are the Old Guard I'd just have to take your word for it. For some, 15mm is the ideal compromise between uniform detail and battle size for Naps. For me, it's the worst of both worlds. The Epic ACW series at 12-13mm works for me because uniforms are not much of a thing for this period and at this size you can easily do a moderately large civil war battle (okay, Gettysburg would still be a reach.) Had Warlord stuck with 12mm Epic Naps I might have gone that route, but these are too big.

You should dive right in!
@@StormofSteelWargaming Eventually! Right now I need to direct dollars towards the fight against fascism. 🙂
If they ever do spanish batallions, I will buy 20.
Maybe they will one day.

Off on a tangent, was wondering where you get the display cabinets from. There is a chance that I'll get some armies painted. I know, crazy talk.
They are from IKEA, I'm not sure if they still make them though.
I'm so tempted by these to get back into Napoleonic era, nice video mate
Thanks!
Was wondering what Waterloo sets could be used for the Peninsular campaigns?
It's not something I've really considered, but both the British and French infantry are wearing the later versions of the respective uniforms, so neither of those really...
Great job Alex
Thank you!
Nice!😎 I'm still tempted by Epic even though I have multiple armies of AB Miniatures!
They are very nice, but then so are the AB figures...

I am sure they are on the way.

Well, let's not hold our breath.
I'm holding out for 1813-15 Prussians!
I think you'll be waiting a while.
@StormofSteelWargaming It's all good! I'm doing Epic Romans & Carthaginians in the mean time!

There's no reason why you can't stash stuff for future...

It would have been easier just to write 'I'm not interested in them'.
What size is this "epic" scale?
15mm, as I said in the video...
