the reason why songs in the 80's to the 90's are great was because we hav good lyricist like wong jim, 林振強,鄭國江 and alot more the songs that they wrote all hav deep meanings which inspired many many hk people back then. having a deep meaning inside a song is important but also delivering the message is important as well and those lyricist did their job perfectly!

i hope one day the hk music industry will go back to its glory days! and if we continue to lower our standards, we might never go back the glory days in the 80's and soon the hk music industry will shrink. and soon there we wont hav any more cantonese songs. before wong jim's death he wrote a thesis about the cantonese music industry maybe you should give it a read!!i respect wht your point that we should listen it from the different perspective
but if i was listening to a song do i hav to sit on my arse and think wht the lyricist is trying to say rather than them writing stuff for us to understand?its like me saying a statement saying "i love eating coconut while i am skiing in my car" and when someone say to me this doesnt make sense, i reply telling them to listen to wht i say in another perspective? hee hee i am not trying to pick a fight its just that i can see that both of us love music and its good to talk to someone about it!
