    Weird coming across this, I had a weird experience. My son said it sounded like a mimic. It was late, I took my dogs out before going to bed….I was near where the woods start behind my house..I thought I heard someone say “mom!” I remember thinking to myself that’s weird ….then I heard it again, “mom!” Coming from the woods at 1 o’clock in the morning. I am thinking what in the heck is a kid doing in the woods this late then it dawned on me. It sounded just like my oldest son when he was a child. I picked my dogs up and ran in the house!

      Yeah, no wonder why you ran, that's terrifying. I've heard people saying certain animals like mountain lions can make noises which can be confused with humans, but i don't know of any animal that sounds like a young boy saying mom. Better to be safe than sorry, good for you that you protected your dogs, they were probably terrified because they'd be able to sense something is wrong, and that there is something potentially dangerous nearby, dogs pick up on the fact their owners are scared too and as their leader this is scary for them. Thank goodness you had the sense to not investigate whatever it was, it seems lots of people do. I've heard too many stories about voices leading people deep into woods and forests then that person disappears without a trace, I find it weird and alarming that they often find no trace of them, like no backpacks, clothing, shoes and tents 😮

    I love hearing these kinda stories as I go to sleep, it makes great dreams and he never fails to impress with the calming nature of his voice. I also love these mimic and skinwalker stories where they sound like someone cause it's happened to me a few times at my house with my brothers voice when he was sleeping on the couch.

      @crazy4anime2 I live in Michigan, and I love hearing ghost stories and encounters that happen here. At first, I thought about the Dogman from Central MI, but all the reports, stories, etc. I have read and watched, don't line up with wipsering, etc. I am from SE Mi, so I assume if this is a real story, it could have happened anywhere from the central area to the UP. I tried googling and could not find anything specific. It was a great story, though.

    • @juneyshu6197
      @juneyshu6197 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mimic imitates your voice or someones voice but it is not them. Some blame Sasquatch for some mimicking voices in the woods. Skinwalker is a Native American myth of a person who puts on animal skins and may change appearance to an animal, may unalive people. Fleshgait is an internet idea, look it up.

    • @Dice-Z
      @Dice-Z 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mimics are a type of fictional monsters/creatures/cryptid, especially in horror and fantasy. And you could in theory use it for real animals too, like parrots. But it's generally more reserved for predatory behaviours and deceitful copying of an object/person. Malicious mimicry.
      Mimics are anything that tries to imitate something it isn't, whether it's a sound, a voice, a physical appearance, a person and their personality/memories, etc... more often than not entirely changing their appearance and voice.
      Some say skinwalkers are mimics, and some people take the "creative liberty" to make them so. Originally they are more shapeshifters, as far as i understand, though. Fleshgaits are skinwalkers but internet creepypasta-ified hence the similar name, it's a story from the early web. They steal someone's skin and become them. It's the origin of many of the skinwalker tropes that aren't necessarily in line with the original native folklore.
      Fantasy settings' most iconic mimic is the chest mimic. It disguises itself as a treasure chest to lure unsuspecting adventurers. There are many other mimic creatures, like the "modern" wendigo, or certain creatures from other stories, movies, games.

    Thanks for keeping it 💯. There is nothing worse than false advertisement. All of these encounters were ❤cryptid encounters❤ and ⭐️No BS filler 😒human🙄 horror stories⭐️ I appreciate it so much when a channel sticks to their genre. CRYPTID/PARANORMAL DOESNT MEAN PSYCHO HUMAN ENCOUNTERS LOL. If we wanted that we'd subscribe to channels that advertise for that genre. Unfortunately, a lot of channels have been doing clickbait descriptions lately that include *horror* and *haunting* in the title and advertise pics of a cryptid in their thumbnails, but when you listen, it's one or two SUPER OLD RECYCLED cryptid stories and the rest are some BS stories about deviant human beings... like.... 😒 we deal with each other on a day-to-day basis. We dont want to go to our CRYPTID OR PARANORMAL TH-cam CHANNELS and hear about crimes committed by your average everyday lunatic. 😂 smh... We'd subscribe to channels fitting that genre if we wanted to hear that bs. Smh... there's nothing more disappointing than going to your favorite cryptid/paranormal channel in hopes of hearing some spine tingling spooky stories just to be slapped in the face with crime TV lol swampdweller has been doing this ALOT lately and it's very disappointing. So happy to see that there are still a few paranormal youtube channels that haven't gotten lazy. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
    Please keep up the good work!! You're amazing!

      Mimics are kind of interesting because I've noticed they are often associated with Bluegrass/Appalachian regions. I'm also intrigued by dogmen. There are some areas where dogmen and sasquatches are in the same area, but other areas where there is a clear regional delineation. Dogmen have also been seen in some urban/suburban areas.

    These mimic/skinwalker stories are my absolute favorite bro. Something about them is just terrifying. Maybe because I start imagining if that was me in the story and if I would’ve fell for the trickery and opened the door etc. or if it sounded like a little girl or baby in the forest that was crying out for help… I would’ve cared too much and ran to help them with zero hesitation and get killed😅 anyway I’d love to have a bunch more of these types of stories!! Thank you darkness prevails! One of the best narrators on YT👌🏾💯

    The skinwalker story is wholly unbelievable, sounds like they just spent an hour googling skinwalker myths and cobbled together a story that included everything they read. Also weirdly claiming they come from a different dimension? Here's the thing, skinwalkers ARE real, but they're so much different than what's being described, they're people who are beloeved achieved dark magic through heinous rituals, and gain the mental, and maybe some physical characteristics of certain animals. Other than that they're still human not some strange alien beings

      Wow. You don't know mimics ? Lucky you. They actually come in several unnerving forms. Some cryptids do mimic human speech, but are not mimics. Wendigo & Not - Deer. True mimics, mimic human form as well. The true human form mimic often appears in expanses of remote wilderness & there are tell tale signs, they appear , dressed totally inappropriately fir hiking in remote wilderness, like a 3 piece suit with track shoes & dark sunglasses. When they retreat, they retreat theu the forest doing perfect back flips at a speed that is uncanny, without touching a tree or shrub. They usually ask a question & repeat it too many times. Sometimes, they have a painfully wide smile on their faces as well. Mostly appearing as a male figure.

      Mimics are a type of fictional monsters/creatures/cryptid, especially in horror and fantasy. And you could in theory use it for real animals too, like parrots. But it's generally more reserved for predatory behaviours and deceitful copying of an object/person. Malicious mimicry.
      Mimics are anything that tries to imitate something it isn't, whether it's a sound, a voice, a physical appearance, an animal, an object, a person and their personality/memories, etc... more often than not entirely changing their appearance and voice.
      Fantasy settings' most iconic mimic is the chest mimic. It disguises itself as a treasure chest to lure unsuspecting adventurers. There are many other mimic creatures, like the "modern" wendigo, or certain creatures from other stories, movies, games. They are popular in analog horror.

    I have been in contact with a mimic, but it wasn't harmful. It helped us find a sibling during hide and seek even. Only time it was scary was with mom's ex boyfriend's daugther, she was getting ready downstairs when she saw my moms shadow and heard her call her name but didnt get a respond back. So when she went upstairs and asked her dad what she wanted, he was extremely confused because she had driven to the store 30 minutes before that and wasn't home. This happened a few tjmes but only to her, my guess is because she had a lot goint on and was weakened and easier to scare.

    these are really spooky but i cant help but laugh at the first one a little. Imagining them just locking their half asleep sibling out of their room in the middle of the night who then stomps off because wow RUDE and then just ignoring their neighbor who's home early.
