What bait did you use for Sockeye, what size hook and how heavy is your line so it doesn't break? What's your favorite way to eat Sockeye? We will be in Seward in the next week or two, will the Sockeye still be there or do they travel to different bodies of water? I have 2 boys (12 and 14) who are learning a lot from your videos. Hey there thank you so much for watching my videos. I’m so happy that I can help others and sorry that I wasn’t informative enough to answer your questions in the video but I use size 10 treble hook. Sockeyes salmon in Seward will not bite lures or bait so everyone is snagging them. For line I recommend 30lb or heavier no more than 50lb. For a fishing rod I recommend something that is medium- heavy action rod. I always love to cook my salmon with butter and just pan fried.

I use a stiff Tiger stick, 1 piece. Looks just like yours. Perfect for setting the snag hook.

I'm not sure that I agree with snagging Salmon. In my mind it is not sporting to catch fish foul hooking them. It is illegal to do so in New Zealand.
