    The camera is in the lower section since the top mount would not be reachable for the wipers, at least it seems that way to me. Very compact car! I am excited!

    • @KjetilBalstad
      @KjetilBalstad 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On my car, with a long windshield, I often get water and smudge on the lower part of the window, especially when driving behind cars on wet surfaces, resulting in the automatic wipers not kicking in and so forth. And I guess this sensor is placed here as well, or this is handled by the camera. Also, having the camera lower might be better in terms of angles.

    • @erikstephens34
      @erikstephens34 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah wipers have a dual inside out wipe pattern. So this makes sense. If it was top centre the wipers would not clean the camera.

    • @POTThaesslich

    The camera placement at the bottom of the windscreen probably makes it easier to keep clean using the wiper blades on what is a relatively tall and narrow windscreen

    • @1sti
      @1sti 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      or, more likely it's at the same height as it would be on the top in a normal car, check @4:21

    • @cannygrowabeard
      @cannygrowabeard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1sti A valid point, though I guess if it were mounted higher up, potentially it can see further ahead over the roofs of other cars to junctions/oncoming traffic. Probably simpler installation process for them to integrate it into the other driving assistance systems, which are probably located inside the dash. I’ve seen them installing the dashboards as a single unit into the ID3 and ID4, so I guess that cuts down on connections and wiring up to the rear view mirror.

    • @Kimbrough87

    Looks like the short nose is kind of an illusion. It's really more like Chrysler's "cab forward" idea pushed to the extreme. The windshield goes very far in the front but the dash is very deep and the driver/passenger seat way back. So it's got the look of the old VW bus (ish), but the crumple zone is there with the dash vs the old one where YOU were the crumple zone.

    Here in Sweden dealers are taking preorders on The Buzz but the comercial version is first out early June the people carrier is due late fall my ID.3 is going back December 2022 and I hope to have a Buzz waiting for me First out is The short wheelbase that you saw and later on (first i China USA and Canada) is a long wheelbase version in comercial people carrier and California Camper version
    Good Catch!

    just a mini van for now? Will they do a pop-top version for campers? Also while the ENV looks to have a longer nose, the seats in the buzz are fairly far back if you look at the driver/passenger door location vs nose.

    • @JohnBackstrand
      @JohnBackstrand 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I would love a comparison of distance from the point of the nose to the steering wheel. This is sort of similar to Sharan which also has a huuuge space between the front seats and the windshield, but thats also kind of nice.

    I think the position of the camera on the lower part of the windscreen will match kind of the hight of the cameras from ID.3.
    If put on top it might be an issue so see traffic lights so they just put it down there since it's still high enough anyways.

  • @VirtuellJo
    @VirtuellJo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The advantage with the camera placement is having it behind the windscreen wiper. Clever move.
