Just met him at a Fanexpo recently. Nicest guy I ever met at one of those things. He took the time to ask myself all kinds of questions as if he was just as interested in meeting me during his signing. Really impressed by his kind and friendly nature.

I met Sean in Indianapolis at a Horrorhound Convention several years ago. He was so friendly and sweet, talking like we had been friends for years. I told him how much I loved his Mom and how much he looked like her. He smiled and said "I consider that a compliment!" Just a sweetheart!
Sean Astin is just so normal...preoccupied with his family and his running and yes, he acts. No insipid talk about "his craft", his ability to act, and me, me me monologues. Yep, totally refreshing. Thank heaven, one normal Hollywood cinema star who does not think he is one.
So touching how he thanked God after receiving the call of getting the part of Samwise Gamgee. Seems like He was watching over the whole LOTR process. Such a classic. Beautiful message.
Intriguing: in an interview with Stephen Colbert he said that he didn‘t know anything about LotR when his agent called him about the role. He then did read the books three times, as he told Colbert.
