SVFD Wildfire Awareness Month

Did you know that embers are #1 cause of home ignitions in a wildfire? According to the National Interagency Fire Center, humans cause an average of 68% of fires, burning more than 2.8 million acres each year.
Last summer, the Inland Northwest experienced just how destructive wildfires can be, with the Gray Fire and Oregon Road Fire burning tens of thousands of acres and destroying hundreds of structures.
Over the next few weeks, your Spokane Valley Fire Department will be sharing important information, including things you can do right now, to keep your home and family safe as we head into wildfire season.
