I became a 10,000 Maniac's fan in 1987 and this MTV unplugged show came out when I was stationed at Ft.Ord in California. After many years I got to see them live in 2016 & meet the band. They were all super friendly and one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Peace ✌️ to all my fellow Maniac fans.
Do you even know that who you met in 2016 doesnt really count in relation to this video.. The main creators of the original songs and music weren't even there in 2016. Natalie left right after this period in the video("93).. and R. Buck died years before 2016... So dont be under any delusion.
This beautiful woman inside and out, has the voice of a gifted angel been listening to 10,000 maniacs since the early 80's and then she went solo BUT still my favorite female vocalist!
When autotune did not exist and talented musicians were playing instead of a computer. I hope the music industry returns to this format one day. I was so lucky to live my youth during these times. I am still in awe of this event, one of the few VHS tapes I still own but dont have a VCR anymore, thank you for sharing.
This song took me to where I needed to go during my divorce. So haunting, so surreal, yet so real. Thank you for helping me bring closure to a beautiful chapter.
This song was once set as a soundtrack to the movie, Phantom of the Opera. It fit eerily well to it. Listening to the words from the song it accurately depicts about misplaced love which the movie was about.
You won a prize for that, For telling lies like that So well that I believed it. And I never felt cheated. You were the chosen one, The pure eyes of Noah's dove. Choir boys and angels Stole your lips and your halo. In your reckless mind, You act as if you've got more lives. In your reckless eyes, you only have time and your love of danger To it you're no stranger. In that August breeze Of those forgotten trees, Your time was set for leaving, Come a colder season. In your reckless mind, You act as if you抳e got more lives In your reckless eyes, It's never too late for a chance to seize some final breath of freedom. Very, so very wise. Don't reveal it. I'm tired, tired of knowing Where it is you're going. In your reckless mind, You act as if you've got more lives. In your reckless eyes, It's never too late for your love of danger To it you're no stranger. In your reckless mind, You act as if you've got more lives. In your reckless eyes, it's never too late For a chance to seize some Final breath of freedom.
Some songs have you hooked by the first verse, or the chorus. Some you love the first time you hear the first note! Then there are somg that you just know they have to be good,, just by the title! What an interesting subject!
One of the greatest live performances of all time. They were so great. RIP Robert Buck.
Who was Robert Buck?
@@jimaiello750 10,000 Maniacs' original guitarist. He died in 2000.

The youth of today are lost
@@kevinwilson3337 Not sure about the youth, specifically, but I would say that the masses are lost.

I agree. This is one of my favorite songs ever. Probably at least 200 views are mine.

Such a beautiful song that deserves to be more widely appreciated.
Debe ser apreciada por quienes la aprecian! Suficiente!
This is gorgeous. So blown away here in 2023 hearing for first time.
The studio album that this song was originally on ('Our Time in Eden', the previous year to this 1993 live performance) features many beautiful songs.

Just as beautiful as I remember.
This was like the swan song of the original lineup ... such a great show
Natalie Merchant is timeless in her own right. Just an awesome voice!
Hands down my favorite female vocalist. So glad I saw them live on the Our Time in Eden Tour. New Orleans was rocking.
Who else is still listening in 2024? 90s kid here!
Hi ! From Tampico Tamaulipas
Opening with this song is just spectacular.
My favorite 10M song after Stockton Gala Days. The album version is fantastic but this version is even better.
Yes--second best after SGD. I agree.

This has got to be the most underestimated group of all time,so unique and nothing can compare to such a class act

Nice, very nice 🤘
that is an awesome song...still tryin to understand it...
This and "Nutshell" by Alice in Chains are my favorite unplugged songs ever. Such masterpiece performances.
The unplugged version of "Nutshell" is heart wrenching. Even more so since we lost Layne.
Good taste!
Superlativve
lol
How long before this gets taken down every time I find it it disappears this is the best MTV Unplugged ever
always thought it make great Bond film theme.
No one will ever understand what this song means to me
Rest...
I call it: "in your reckless mind"
I am not sure why David Letterman feels so safe to claim my beloved wife of 50 lifetimes💕💕💕

A vision of feminine beauty
What was 10,000 Maniacs connection to Ken Curtis? His version from the 1940’s . Some of you know him as Festus in Gun Smoke
This is the rainy day version.
So they began the show with 'Noah's Dove' but they put it as the last song in the album?
That surprised me too.
Maybe about Michael Stipe?
❤
i was here
RIP Natalie
What? She’s alive
Robert Buck, the guitar player, is the one who died.
Surprised the rest of the band bothered to show for this, “Natalie and 10000 maniacs” for goodness sake.
Aren't the keyboard and organ plugged in?
