Have municipalities bothered perhaps cleaned up the sludge and muck and runoffs and runners from the sewerage plants along the banks of the Vaal River and esturies... I. E. Bottles, plastics, condoms, human and factory waste.? Radio fallout from foundries and hospitals... We're lead and mercury is produced.? Acid and Arsenic leakages from the mines.? Fertilizers from the farms and soil erosion...?????

I thought sluice gates are those which allow a constant flow of water allowing lake water into the river? If those are sluice gates, which they opened because of possible flooding, where are those that ensure the flow of the river?
Wonderfully informative information from the engineer. Do hope, that when gates are opened on dams across South Africa, the power generated is harnessed for electricity?
