  • Most people have been using AI music generators to create individual songs, but as this video demonstrates, it can also be used to create film scores.
With an LLM like ChatGPT, you can pass in scripts and automate music cue spotting. Then use those text-to-music prompts to create 30 second clips in MusicGen. Export multiple iterations from the same prompt to create several minutes of musical material. Add these clips to your video editor and trim them to match the scene.
This workflow does not replace film composers - it accelerates the brainstorming process and can help teams reach consensus about a musical aesthetic faster.

No argument with that! It's a string of 30 second temp tracks generated in 5 minutes and arranged on iMovie. Of course they sounds terrible - lol.
But also... GANBreeder images looked horrible and within a couple years we had Midjourney.
The main purpose of this demo was to explore how AI film scoring tools might accelerate the early stages of composing and help musicians prototype ideas.
As AI-assisted music generation software gets better, modular audio-to-midi rigs could help composers expand on generative audio in their DAW, cleaning up initial ideas and developing them into actual, usable music.
But of course, if you hate that idea and the generative music approach in general, you're free to not use it. It's important and valuable that a group of people reject these techniques and hold on to classic methodology.
