Prevented injuries, it is nearly unanimous to say thar R9 would have been in a very small short list of GOAT candidates. He would have won 10 ballon d'or in a row if not for 2 near career ending injuries BEFORE HIS PRIME AGE and thyroid later problems. If needed to be described, R9 had the power and speed of CR and the skill of Messi. His game was so ahead of his time that he was called the Phenomenon. He was the precursor of modern strikers that left the box and became capable to play as wingers and midfielders due to their skill. Thing about him like Jordan. A player so gifted offensively that he changed the way his position played forever. Again, without injuries, this men would have been statistically a Messi or CR before they were born and while playing with way less player protection from the refs and in less than perfect club situations.

      @gabkoost 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

It's not hard at all. Ronaldinho was a beauty to watch and both him and Ronaldo are impossible to hate. No one has ever hated no matter how good they were.
But Ronaldo was way more relevant for any team. He was an absolute goal scorer menace and would assist just as much as Ronaldinho.
Tricks and beauty are worth to watch but it's not like it really makes the player. Zidane was not as much of a trickster and he was a better player than Ronaldinho overall.
Furthermore, Ronaldo already had 2 knee injuries and was said to be over for football and Ronaldinho was a youngster climbing to his prime when they played the 02 world cup. And we all saw who was the boss. Even with dead knees and thyroid problems, Ronaldo was the man of the tournament.
Finally, i can respect a player who had injuries and struggle to overcome them. But i will never forget Ronaldinho for his complete lack of professionalism that ended his top career at age 27 as he was overweight, became lazy and had a monumental productive drop because of his careless life attitude.

Well, as a brazilian i have some property to talk about R10 and R9, so i'll give you my views on them and some facts.
R10 is a bit younger than R9, so when R9 was starting to age R10 was entering his prime. Ronaldinho's peak lasted through 2004-2006, when he was crowned best player in the world 2 times i think. Ronaldinho was responsible for the rise of Barcelona and the introduction of Messi to the world. Ronaldinho amazed us because of his magical style of playing. His dribbling, his swag, the constant smile on his face, those are what touched billions of fans around the world. HOWEVER, R10 was not a great goalscorer nor an assister, if you look up his number aren't in the level of CR7, Messi, Pelé or R9. And also his peak was really short due to his bad work mentality. He started to not take football so serious, always partying mid week, constantly seen drinking and with girls. Ronaldinho even off his prime still continued to be a legend and respected all around the world, he still was able to pull off awesome dribbles and stunts, but he was no longer a player to be considered the best in the world, a player who a team would sign being sure that he would win them titles, his time had passed by 2008/2009. He continued his career up till 2018, won some titles and presented the world yet with gorgeous plays and moves, was still way above average, but just wasnt THAT player. So R10 is a legend due to his prime and the beatiful things he still made after it, but he doesn't enter the fight for the GOAT title.
Now lets talk bout R9... Ronaldo Fenomeno ( it's not el fenomeno pls, we dont speak spanish in brazil ).
Ronaldo had an amazing career, won 2 world cups being the main player of the last one (2002). His career since the beggining was amazing. He started in a quite big club in Brazil and by the age of 17 was already scouted by the big europeans. His numbers per season were unbeliavable, averaging 1+ goal per game. He is the youngest player to ever receive the award of best player in the world, when he was only 20 YEARS OLD, in total he won this prize 3 times in his career. Ronaldo Fenomeno was undoubtely the best striker to ever play the game, he would grab the ball from anywhere in the pitch and run forwads dribling every defender + goalkeeper. He also had amazing dribling and skils like R10, but obviously no player compares to R10 in the subject of skill and dribbles. But, differently from R10, R9 was also strong in every other aspect of the game, his goalscoring ability was out of this world, he was the player who could win your club some titles. But life is cruel. R9 suffered two serious knee injuries, one in each knee, also had a stroke in the 1998 world cup final and to top it all he had thyroid problems... By the year of 2003 his injuries started to disturb his career and his peak. Just like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo proceed to decay from 2004 forward. He was still a big name and would eventually pull off amazing goals and skills, but his body couldn't handle the pressure of his old playstyle, so he naturally decayed. Now the thing is, the achieviments that R9 was able to conquer during his heatlhy times were amazing, and he is a strong fighter for the GOAT title, A LOT of people agree that if it wasnt for injuries he could be the GOAT easily...

Secondly you stated that R9 is more complete however Ronaldo has over a 100 goal with his left foot, his right foot and his head. In terms of goal scoring no one is more complete then CR7. I would also argue that CR7 is faster and more skilful, it’s debatable. Finally in terms of achievement R9 has won the World Cup only because he was in that legendary Brazil team, I am pretty sure they would of won without him. He was the most naturally gifted talent in history ... If not for injuries, R9 would have been undisputed GOAT (he inspired the current batch of stars and even Messi and Zlatan called him their hero’s) Maradona once said “if not for injuries ... R9 would have made the whole world forget Pele and Maradona” and that is the ultimate compliment and the true measure of the man

Messi was Ronaldinho’s understudy, Barca sold Ronaldinho to allow Messi to take his mantle and develop. He was a true street footballer, Hence his amazing juggling and ball control. Playing I’m a small courtyard or on the street forces you to develop your ball control. He started off at Gremio in Brazil and was a legend there by the time he left. I wouldn’t say anyone models themselves on him today entirely, because it would be embarrassing for them to try. But again every dribbler takes inspiration or cues from him. He won’t ever be replicated. If you get time look up Kerlon seal dribble. Another example of a street footballer. Bringing juggling to the pitch.

I think the difference between them is the time of being that good. Ronaldinho only had his best moments at Barcelona for 3 years or some, while Ronaldo played at a high level with lots of other teams. Though, Ronaldo was also injured and that affected a lot on his career. For me, I like Ronaldinho the most because of his creativity, you were shocked every game you saw of him.
Finally here's an anecdote that you, as an NBA fan (me too) will like, I don't know the year but Ronaldinho said to Kobe that Messi would be better than him, Kobe couldn't believe it bc Dinho was the goat at that time, but at the end seem he was right.

  • @kronikevaporation6007

This video is self evident about Ronaldo's inhumane dribbling if you watch properly (despite the editor not putting in his best dribbles). Dribbling was Ronaldinho's strongest point and rightly so, but despite all that flair, you see him dribbling past 1 player, or 2. But then R9, he is dribbling past 4 players near the penalty region, not around the middle of the field where there is more space. Not a single wasted movement, and the efficiency is equal to 4XRonaldinho. Craziest thing is dribbling isnt even R9's strongest suit. He overshadows pretty much anybody in the history of the game in speed, strength and finishing.
I am sorry if I ranted a bit, but way too many people nut over Ronaldinho's flair, but a lot of it is wasted. (Even Neymar is better in that regard.) And as a result, dont appreciate R9 enough. The man is going past 3-4 inside an area equal to a garage. Only Messi and Maradona did something remotely close, and even they didnt do it as convincingly, regularly and in such a brute manner as Ronaldo fenomeno. Not to mention he played against the best defenders of all fucking time. Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Costacurta everybody got nutmegged and I genuinely havent seen one of the them get the ball of him before his injuries.
Btw Fenomeno was Ronaldinho's idol. Watch Zidane speaking about Ronaldo. He fanboys and drools over him despite being 4 years older.
[Also, no cr7 didnt model his stepovers after fenomeno. If he did, he wouldnt be so bad at it. I am not saying it doesnt work, it does as he has got great instincts and speed, but he never lowers his upped body. Watch his stepovers, his entire upper body is stiff and only his legs go over the ball. The upper body is what "sells the fake". Watch Robinho do stepovers. {surprise surprise, his idol was also R9}, Robinho genuinely floored people with just stepovers, because he was so good at selling fakes when upper body and the legs are combined as dummies over the ball]

    1. Now that you’re seeing the type of level soccer can be played at, do you think if you were exposed to it at a young age, you would have played soccer or been as passionate about it as you seem in these videos?
    2. Out of the players you’ve seen who is your #1 favorite? Mine forever will be Ronaldinho
    3. Do you think differently about soccer and the level of skill some players had after watching these videos, and how would you compare it to other skilled sports (football, basketball, etc)
