For me, the amount of emotions I’d cycle through when watching short form videos was a major problem. I was laughing, tearing up, and angry all within 60 seconds, and then I’d do that for like 2 hours at a time. Not good for the mental health.
Woahhh I did not think of this before, but this makes a lot of sense. I think I'm going to have to start limiting my short form content as a highly sensitive girlie
From a much older woman who loves your videos: I find that one thing that makes it easier to set boundaries is to remind myself that I'd rather feel the discomfort of setting a boundary than the seething burn of resentment when I end up agreeing to things I don't want to do. Also, practice makes it easier! Anyway, you are a terrific, thoughtful, and courageous young woman and I wish you all the best! Thanks for sharing!
I deleted TikTok a few months ago and it’s helped me so much. I’ve now started to get re-addicted to Instagram reels (same thing) so now I’m trying to cut that back out as well. More books, less social media. Yes.
omg thank you for speaking on tik tok and the "individuality crisis", I could not agree more and have been thinking about this for a few years now. I feel like people don't really have personal style anymore and it makes me so sad lol. staying off tik tok and social media for the most part really keeps me in tune with myself and what I like and I'm so glad bc I never want to lose what makes me me!!!
I deleted tiktok like 2 years ago and honestly it was the best thing I ever did. It was such a time waster for me and I'm the exact same, I always felt bad after scrolling through it for hours. Sooo glad I deleted it
I just undownloaded tiktok and twitter last night, because I felt the same!! like I could feel my brain rotting while scrolling all day, would feel terrible, and still couldn't put it down, lol. appreciate you always being so candid about the importance of boundary setting and taking care of yourself!
Chatty vlogs are my absolute favorite! I love listening to you talk while I’m doing something like getting ready for bed ❤ My chatty contribution/ramble that no one asked for (lol) is that I have been working really hard lately and it’s a job that I love, but I’m still a little exhausted… We are missing one of our office people after a retirement, so there’s extra work for the rest of us. And I think it’ll take a while to get a replacement… Oh well! I still love my job. And I love watching you on breaks or times when I can unwind ❤ Thank you miss Carrie for your lovely videos 🥰
I've been off tiktok since January 1st too and am so happy about it! I didn't realize how much time I was wasting on it until this month when I've read like 5 books, started teaching myself how to embroider, started taking ballet, and so much more! Like all this time I've been wasting on tiktok I could've been doing cool things!!
Social media has ruined us. Sure, there’s a lot of benefits from it (entertainment, showcasing real talent that otherwise we wouldn’t have known about, etc.), but there’s also a lot of harm. Decrease in one’s self-esteem, instilling a sense of FOMO, and inadvertently creating a culture of comparison. It’s more toxic than it is good.
One thing that has really helped me with my boundary setting (thanks to my lovely therapist) is being intentional about learning my own inherent values. If something no longer aligns with my values or a decision I need to make goes against my values I can tune into that feeling of discord in my life. Knowing why I need that boundary for myself and how it fits into my values makes it so much easier to make. At first, setting that boundary feels uncomfortable, but in the long run when you set boundaries that align with your value systems it feels so much more free. Short term uncomfy-ness for long term freedom! Love ya! 💕
Tiktok is a mind and time suck for me. I find it's heavy on the "you need this, you need that" too and my budget just isn't here for it. Good for you for making space for something else 😊
I deleted tiktok about a year ago now and haven't missed!! Such a great decision. Love the outfit and the hair 😍 it was so sweet of you to take your stylist flowers ❤ I'm sure she loved them
I stopped going on TikTok in August and it’s been so amazing for my mental health. Sometimes I do feel left out though when I’m around people who talk about it a lot but I don’t miss the brain rot lol
Love chatty vlogs! I think this is the best your hair has ever looked! I’m obsessed with this era! And the parking garages honestly sounds like an anxiety nightmare for me 😂🩷
100% agree with the pricey beauty products. I was doing that with makeup for a while then I tried a couple drug store products and never looked back(also now there's way better drugstore brands). I save so much money that way
I also deleted my tiktok! I noticed in the last few months it seemed so negative and not as fun and lighthearted. I noticed an uptick in people fighting in the comments and people being outright mean. It was really affecting me and I feel so much better without it. ❤
Something I’ve been working on in therapy is boundaries (it feels like never ending work lol). But a big take away has been understand that when we form boundaries, it allows us to show up in our relationships better. 🤯 I relate to so much of what you said!! Thank you for sharing!
I deleted tic tok in 2020, vowed to never get it back. Truly the best thing I’ve ever done for my mental health, productivity, motivation, literally everything 😭
Self tanner-also, ppl, get a back self-tan mitt thing. It’s the same mitt material but a long rectangle strap thing with two handles so you can rub the self tanner on your back and forth and up and down to get the parts of your back you can’t reach:)
Every person is different but I also feel like as women in general.we have been conditioned to want to be people pleasers and are more likely to agree to doing things or doing them in a way that we know isnt good for us. It's a hard cycle to break, but being aware of it is the first step and I'm so happy you are doing that for yourself! It's crazy when you think about how easily men just state what they need or want andd also never feel any guilt for it. More women need to do that! Not just the action but letting ourselves not feel the guilt
I deleted tiktok a few months ago as well as IG and its been so good! Now i find myself using youtube shorts and i need to stop. My attention span also was tanking aside from my mental health. I had brain fog and almost disassociating in a way.
i’ve never had tiktok - but instagram reels are KILLING me. like i purposely didn’t get tiktok because i knew id use it too much, and now it’s just the same on instagram 😅😢 trying tho!! id love a main channel vid on your thoughts and stuff if you still were thinking of it! the whole individuality crisis thing is so real!
Love your channel art and new photos for both of your channels! I usually watch from my subs so I don’t see it! But had to rush over when I saw the new pink photo! Love them so much!! ❤💗
Happy Monday, Carrie! I love the b.tan/tan af self tanning line at Walmart. It doesn’t smell horrible and has a bunch of different gradients to choose from, the mits (hand and back), is affordable and I feel like it last a good amount of time on the skin. I *just* purchased their clear self tanning gel and I’m a little nervous I’ll miss spots! lol.
I have a love hate relationship with tiktok and social media in general. But with tiktok specifically I'd go thru a range of emotions in a matter of minutes and as someone diagnosed with Bi Polar Type 1, it definitely isn't helping me or healthy for my mental health. But on the other hand tiktok is I'd say 85% of the way I stay informed about current events, and things I like staying up to date with (science, space, video games, movies, music, etc). The one social media I have pretty much stopped using is Instagram. I got into a headspace of "oh I wish I was pretty like these dudes who have thousands of followers". Now I only really post on it, I don't really scroll on it anymore. I really only use Facebook to stay up to date with friends and family, and to get memes. And Twitter to promote me and my husband's OF. (I got student loans to pay lmao)
i never wanted to use tiktok i have heard so many bad things about it and the only time i would ever see tiktok is if a youtube channel was showing their tiktok because i was never interested in the app, i have instagram that has so much stuff i like to see so i dident see the point in tiktok, im glad you left it and that you are feeling better now that you left it
I started switching all my personal care items and makeup to drugstore in October to save $$$ and put the savings into my travel fund! The change makes me happy!
I fully understand the need for the tiktok/media break. Repeating myself (sorry, not trying to be a broken record), but a popular fitness channel recently commented towards me gross, body-shaming comments about unfit folks not being respectable/attractive. The ick-factor and negativity I felt/still feel seeing a trainer with lots of success share and defend these gross comments takes a mental toll. But deleting that negativity from life is key! Gotta do what's best for us as individuals and the older we get, the easier it seems to get... that or my "give an F meter" just gets smaller and smaller. Both are plausible.
The fen z foot commentary made me bark out loud because I never realized but it's true, there's this kind of obsession online with hating feet but like even if it's just a hint or a peek 😂
Hey Carrie yesss get that workout in I’ve been doing 5 minute workouts myself at home just did my second one this morning, then I’ve gone swimming once next month I’ll be going at least 2 times a week and same with me discipline for me too and I’m going to the movie this coming Sunday
CARRIE you should try latex gloves when applying your tan. I switched from a glove to latex gloves and it soaks in sooooo much better! The feeling of latex gloves with mousse is kinda vile but worth it IMO
I am so torn with tiktok. I want to delete it as I hate how much time I spend on it but my problem is I go on in to get temporary relief/distraction from my anxiety. which is a problem within itself. I think I’m going to delete the app and try and use TH-cam/netflix if I need something to listen to as I can be away from my phone and don’t have to scroll ya know? Thanks for the motivation to actually do it because I’ve been thinking about it ❤
I needed to hear that I wasn’t being a burden. I’ve been sick with the flu for over a week (+ being pregnant with my second) and not able to work. I have felt so awful that I’m not able to go into work, but I literally can’t be there.
I seriously hope the bell curve of TikTok popularity is finally on the down slope. The amount of damage (in all forms) to young people in our country will be something we will have to contend with for years to come. We need more of our influences to take a stand against the toxicity of the app. Delete TikTok. Full stop.
Your little bouquet is beautiful and thoughtful ... the purple, dried flower is called statice (sounds like "status") and it's such a cool plant to put in arrangements. As for TikTok ... I only watch "recommended" videos and don't actually have an account ... I also HATE Twitter (or "X" as it's now called...) because it's so easy for idiots to piss me off. I maintain a Facebook presence because it's one of the ways I keep in touch with friends who are far away or who I don't see in person enough.
I never used tiktok but I deleted Instagram two years ago and dont miss it at all! I only use TH-cam now and even there I have to be careful not to watch too many shorts from people I havn't subscribed to 😅
As for the boundaries, I can’t help but feel so worried that if I ask for too much from a medical professional (or any type of professional) that they’ll dislike me and stop giving me good care. Which would be literally illegal in Canada, but it still paralyzes me 🙈
I go through social media cleanses like that too. I recently returned to TikTok and already sick ok it. It’s really not good for me 😂I’ve also unfollowed lifestyle TH-camrs who do nothing but mainly hauls. Especially Amazon. They don’t review products and i was buying too many gadgets that just aren’t necessary.
When you said you were putting on a blondie shirt I wasn’t looking at the screen but I was fully expecting for you to be wearing a Taylor Swift shirt when I did look 😂
Definitely saved this vid, I’m thinking of trying self tanning so than you for this!!! This time of year I tend to take hotter showers…does that affect the results?
I deleted Tik Tok after like a month of having it downloaded during Covid. I would literally get lost in it for hours and the brain fog afterwards was crazy. Now I’m hating YT shorts and Instagram reels because I get sucked into them as well without even trying
It’s okay to say it’s not good for people to scroll on TikTok. I’m sure you made the “no judgement” disclaimer because you didn’t want to alienate viewers with a blanket statement but honestly the research is there. Doom scrolling is a thing. Social media burnout is a thing. Social media is toxic af 😵💫
Firstly - I wish I knew you in real life because girl I feel like we could be friends 😂 Secondly - I find the most natural tan on my fair/light (neutral) skin tone is bondi sands foam in light/medium. I also like to gently rub the dry areas (wrists, elbows, knees) with a baby wipe and blend it in with a kabuki brush. I find this helps keep those areas from getting super dark and cringe. 😬
Can I ask a question about your content? You talked about deleting Tiktok and the reasons why but at the same time you added in one breath that your own content will remain the same. So you will still talk about viral and trending products, clothes you bought etc. Isn't that counterproductive? You don't want to consume such content but you don't mind creating it? I don't mean this in any offensive way, I like your content, I'm just curious how you feel about this. Thanks for the reply 👍
Testing trending products for review purposes as part of my job and no longer scrolling on TikTok in my personal life feel like two very separate things to me so no, they don’t feel counterintuitive at all!
Not sure if this sense , but I tend to prefer TikTok same as TH-cam. It’s filled content from people I don’t know and so i don’t feel the need to compare or follow “trends.”
Exactly! It’s emotional whiplash 😓
I deleted socials a few weeks ago but I couldn’t verbalize exactly why and THIS is it. You nailed it. This is why it can be soooo toxic.
this is so real. No reason I should be laughing, crying, cringing, or feeling numb from seeing like literal violence within such a short time span.
I could have written this! This is my exact reasoning as to why I deleted instagram too… it was the reels for me
From a much older woman who loves your videos: I find that one thing that makes it easier to set boundaries is to remind myself that I'd rather feel the discomfort of setting a boundary than the seething burn of resentment when I end up agreeing to things I don't want to do. I love this comment 🥰 thank you so so much!!
"we're having an individuality crisis." It would be really cool if you made a main channel video about this 💕
Your baby bouquet for your hairdresser was so sweet. There is nothing wrong with using your cut flowers. It's the thought that counts.
I deleted TikTok a few months ago and it’s helped me so much. I’ve now started to get re-addicted to Instagram reels (same thing) so now I’m trying to cut that back out as well. More books, less social media. Yes.

Your vlogs are so feel good vibey, Carrie. Thank you for continuing to share your normal life with us💗
I’m now 71 but when I turned 50 I learned the word “No” and to not feel guilty.
Chatty vlogs are my absolute favorite! Embroidery is one of my favorite hobbies! Enjoy it 😊

I think it’s far cuter to make a flower arrangement compared to buying one. It shows you took time to make a special gift. That was so thoughtful 💓
Tiktok is a mind and time suck for me. I find it's heavy on the "you need this, you need that" too and my budget just isn't here for it. Good for you for making space for something else 😊
Your look going to the hairdressers, is giving me all the Garth from Wayne's World vibes and I am here for it!
Omg yes! Party on Wayne! Party on Garth! 🤘🤘
I deleted tiktok about a year ago now and haven't missed!! Such a great decision. Love the outfit and the hair 😍 it was so sweet of you to take your stylist flowers ❤ I'm sure she loved them

Thank you so much for the tanning info! As a 34 year old who has never really done this, but wants to start, you have no idea how helpful that was! 😅
WOW! Your hair looks so good! So shiny and healthy! I don't think you ramble too much.
100% agree with the pricey beauty products. I was doing that with makeup for a while then I tried a couple drug store products and never looked back(also now there's way better drugstore brands). I save so much money that way

love you miss carrie! currently on day 5 of my 30 day instagram break and i feel so good.
I’ve been loving these long vlogs they’re my favorite ❤
Thank you so so so much for being here!! 💞💞💞💞
It is never wrong to do something kind for another person.😊 you rock!
I deleted tic tok in 2020, vowed to never get it back. Truly the best thing I’ve ever done for my mental health, productivity, motivation, literally everything 😭
Wow, I'm so happy for you that deleting tik tok has made such a positive impact!! Always happy to see you thrive ❤
Deleting TikTok changed my life! I've been off of it since Jan 2022 and life changing.
Hi Carrie, just wanted to say that I enjoy it when you just ramble on and say what's on your mind! :) so please don't worry about those parts!
I deleted TikTok about a year ago. No regrets.
The emotional whiplash and brain rot were what tipped the scale. It became bad for my mental health.
The *honk* “exactly!” 😂😂😂
I was looking for something to watch/listen to whilst gettjng ready for work. Thank you ❤❤
Self tanner-also, ppl, get a back self-tan mitt thing. It’s the same mitt material but a long rectangle strap thing with two handles so you can rub the self tanner on your back and forth and up and down to get the parts of your back you can’t reach:)

Carrie I had the crappiest weekend and your vlogs truly help me stay distracted ❤ thank you 🥺
I would never do without a handheld shower head..best thing ever!
Perfect timing for the tanning tutorial for me - thank you so much!
Lol why did I love the shots from your pantry and fridge. Love your vids Carrie ❤❤
Love your channel art and new photos for both of your channels! I usually watch from my subs so I don’t see it! But had to rush over when I saw the new pink photo! Love them so much!! ❤💗
Would love a drugstore favourites main channel video !!!

I started switching all my personal care items and makeup to drugstore in October to save $$$ and put the savings into my travel fund! The change makes me happy!
I've deleted all social media off my phone, it's been very freeing.
I’m really sorry that happened to you - what gross behavior from that person!! Sending you a big hug 🫂💌
The fen z foot commentary made me bark out loud because I never realized but it's true, there's this kind of obsession online with hating feet but like even if it's just a hint or a peek 😂
Wow! I’m 59 yrs old and you just taught me something new for fixing the ends of my hair😊
I loved your hair review I’ve hit a wall with styling my hair, I’m going to try this look with my straightener!
you are rocking the bangs!!
I live in SD and yeah…the parking situation in LA makes me never wanna move there. 😬
Obsessed with the baby bouquet 💐🫶🏾
I love knowing which Grow with Jo workout you're doing since I just did it also lol
Please make a main channel video about deleting TikTok!
What workout vids are you doing?? They seem really nice
Good morning Carrie happy new year to you and your loved ones and I hope that 2024 brings you a lot of love and happiness
I have that exact backpack, same color and everything for work. I love it!
I needed to hear that I wasn’t being a burden. I’ve been sick with the flu for over a week (+ being pregnant with my second) and not able to work. I have felt so awful that I’m not able to go into work, but I literally can’t be there.
I really enjoyed this vlog.
I seriously hope the bell curve of TikTok popularity is finally on the down slope. Your little bouquet is beautiful and thoughtful ... the purple, dried flower is called statice (sounds like "status") and it's such a cool plant to put in arrangements.

I deleted TikTok last January and I haven’t regretted it for a second!!!
I never used tiktok but I deleted Instagram two years ago and dont miss it at all! I only use TH-cam now and even there I have to be careful not to watch too many shorts from people I havn't subscribed to 😅
Loved this video ❤
I just love you! That is all ❤😊
Please share what was in your drink? It looked so yum
Please make a main channel video about tiktok!!

you can add to meters from your phone!!! at least I can in Florida I'm not sure about California :)
I have also deleted TikTok because it was just FEEDING my health anxiety! so triggering
Love the new do💇🏼♀️❤
When you said you were putting on a blondie shirt I wasn’t looking at the screen but I was fully expecting for you to be wearing a Taylor Swift shirt when I did look 😂
Definitely saved this vid, I’m thinking of trying self tanning so than you for this!!! This time of year I tend to take hotter showers…does that affect the results?
Random ?…does your shower have a light in it? Me and my hubby are building and I’m trying to decide on a tile shower
What workout videos do you watch? They always look good with low impact but high intensity.
We love our free parking lots in the northeast! 🙌🏽
How do you not get that weird double tanning peel stuff from tanning every week? Sorry I don’t know how to explain it but the peeling?
I deleted Tik Tok after like a month of having it downloaded during Covid. I would literally get lost in it for hours and the brain fog afterwards was crazy. Now I’m hating YT shorts and Instagram reels because I get sucked into them as well without even trying
I hateee trends and everyone buying everything that everyone else has to be "included"🙄
I’m only on Pinterest and sometimes TH-cam. Deleted FB and IG in 2019, best decision of my life.
It’s okay to say it’s not good for people to scroll on TikTok.
I do growwithjo workouts too. I love them
sabrina carpenter vibes! 😍
Tik tok is the cool kid in high school and I'm still the nobody in the corner. Deleted end of last year myself.
Gen Z foot content hahaha why was that so funny to this Gen x'er
