Good review. Agree, not the best quality, but will work. Picked one up at HF a few days ago for a buck and a half. Good for practicing and conserving your DOAN'S bar if you are fortunate to have one. Not sure there's a USA made mag bar anymore. COGHLAN's were stamped USA made. I scrape mine with an old 6" file I cut the tang of off.

😳 man my jaw dropped when you hit that blade on that magnesium bar 😂
I definitely agree with you these are of poor quality but I guess it's better than having nothing at all.
Thanks for the video and for all your support with the Groups Todd 🤝

Harbor freight has some decent ammo cans., .30 cal and .50 and I think even some plastic ones., you know for storing things and keeping the moisture out..

I have about a dozen of them laying around. I kept getting them when they were super cheap and putting them in all my packs for hunting camping etc, and in all my vehicles in a Ziploc bag with dryer lint and a bic lighter all together. I've had to use the magnesium a few times over the years to get a fire to start quickly in wet conditions, so I love em! As long as you have them the dryer lint, or some cedar bark you can usually get a fire started even if the conditions for starting a fire suck!

@@OdinswolfSurvival thanks! I honestly believe everyone should have some form of fire starter and basic first aid on or at least near them at all times. (Yes I'm the guy that doesn't smoke anymore but still carries matches with him on a plane. Best case scenario you help out someone who is trying to find something to light their cigarettes with when you land, worse case scenario you are the guy who can actually start a fire if needed after a crash landing)

Make a little "catcher" for the sparks (like a bird's nest) out of your duff or flammable material and sometimes you can get it to catch on the first strike. That's how you impress everyone!

A better grade of magnesium and striker would work much better
