Grew up in kilnamanagh, we used to get the bus into town then the dart to dunlaoire to spend a few hours in the rainbow rapids. If I’m correct you could buy so many slides and use the outdoor saltwater pool too. Reckon it was in the mid to late 80’s. Great times

nice video! amazing how quickly the things people build can decay and rot away like this.

I remember many wonderful sunny days swimming, diving at the baths when i was a kid. Its super SAD to see what was a family swimming place deteriorate.

Cool video. Fond memories of getting my tag for 3 gos on the slides and being sent flying down into a warm pool and back up for more-not so fond memories of queing up in my speedos on the big horrible dank staircase. This building's current state is a powerful testament to administrative stupidity.

If that was cleaned up and made safe it would be a lovely place to visit, nostalgia like this is quickly vanishing

I'm happy/sad to say that the site is being completely redeveloped. All this is no more...

Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown county council should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen to such a great landmark of Dun Laoghaire's history.

What a shame the beautiful bones of this building are still there if only someone would bring the the baths back to life for local people. Forget all the disney characters, it could be amazing place for families.

Shocking to see the state of the old Kingstown Baths.
We left them in perfect working order, what happened?

Apparently they were closed in order to build a large water complex on the site, which never happened due to public outcry, but they just stayed closed.

Scented all my summer dayes at dunlaoire baths you get a strippie towel and a spare swimming's togs. The entrance hall you pay at the cashier window then through a turn style then to the changing rooms

Just pop over the low wall opposite the opening shot, go left, climb down a six foot wall and it's straight walking from there on.

Again we see the utter & total waste of a facility that should be made available to the people of this country, they don't hesitate when it comes to revamping & updating their offices. a disgraceful waste !!!

It's going to cost two thousand euro to build them, but it was originally going to cost twenty thousand, so I guess we better count our blessings.

They should put money into doing them up instead of the "urban beach" they are going to build!

Also looks like the dunlaoghaire council have been relying on this dump to solve their homeless problem. How many poor people have actually slept there last night when the hostel was full. Scandalous!

Yeah we really need more coffee in Dunlaoghaire??? Open it up for families who can't afford rip off gyms and aquatic centres! Let real people all people have a lovely swim in the sea baths. Bring your granny. If we had a national trust it would be gorgeous but no we have a crowd of bent politicos who want to put concrete everywhere. It will be Greystones "harbour" mark 2. Concrete and coffee. Looks like a social welfare parking lot. Disgrace
