  • In this video, I show you the materials and steps you need to build your own live bait pen. I've built a couple of these now and they work great for keeping bait, like greenbacks or pinfish, alive.

    Where the T goes to the middle support why not have 2 vertical supports on both ends leaving the middle open and more structural integrity

      I ordered the mesh online at "Memphis Net & Twine" and the specific one I used in the video was the "Black, 1/4 in. Mesh, Wind and Sand Fence, Standard"

  • @cvano003

    built it, works well. used 1/2'' plastic netting instead of 1/4'', way cheaper and you can get it at home depot.

    Awesome video man! Was wondering, can you provide more details around the design process, how you made the calculations, scaling etc?

    • @SeeYaDude
      @SeeYaDude  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I based my measurements off a bait pen I already had that worked well for me. That one was a cylindrical design so I tried to get the same diameter using an octagon and made it a little taller to fit more bait. You want to limit the amount of sharp corners in your design so the bait doesn't injure itself which is why I chose to do an octagon

    If you want to save some bucks, use plain old patio snow fence. Bigger mesh but way cheaper.

  • @mitchellvoelker1839
    @mitchellvoelker1839 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I found the netting called “plactic netting, 1/4 in, mesh, standard duty” on Memphis net and twine. Is this the same material you used for your netting? It is around $100.

    Awesome pen.. Does it collapse with that mesh ??

    • @SeeYaDude
      @SeeYaDude  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does collapse by taking out the middle support. It's not completely flat, but definitely makes storage a whole lot easier

    How do you deal with the growth? In my experience, after more than ten days in the water, there will be a lot of growth on the bait pen. The float bait pen will sink and become unusable. Also, the growth will hurt the tail of the bait fishes. Thanks.

    • @SeeYaDude
      @SeeYaDude  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I take it out and spray/scrap off all the growth periodically depending on how long it's been in the water

    awesome, little bite costly to made this, cheaper to buy something similar. you shouldn't keep the little dog in this cage for bait, keep the dog dry and put in the water when you ready to catch the big fish. 😂🤣 (or just make separate video from your lovely dog without bait ad)

      Great video, but the cost of a roll of netting is almost as much as buying a complete bait pen of the same materials. Roll of netting is over $100.
