The real reason this exists due to people taking their time and decompilng this game in order to give the source code in which someone made libsm64 a mario 64 library you can put into basically any engine

But how on earth did they get it to fix the jittering lag when a player runs over props or stands on a func_movelinear or tracktrain? That's been an issue since source multiplayer games released!

the mario 64 source code was reverse engineered not too long ago so I'm not surprised that this is possible

Reminds me of that time someone ported Mario from Mario 64 into Minecraft using Java script porting by directing taking code from an rom and putting it in Minecraft somehow.

Oh yeah, I have the mod and it's fucking insane and surreal. The guy who did this with gmod, pretty much works the same as how the mc version is done.

Fun fact: the reason this mod exist is because the fact that the source code for sm64 was leaked a while back.
Another example of a mod like is minecraft, thanks to said leak and a talented modder.
It wasn't Leaked it was decompiled
it was decompiled not leaked.
The code was leaked, but this doesn't come from that as using the leaked code would be highly illegal, this is based on the decompilation project that has been years in the making and is also legal enough.
By saying this was done with leaked code really undermines the struggles that decompiling the code took.

Now this is cool, BUT imagine this... Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time gets completely decompiled leading to link being playable in Minecraft (Like that one person did with Mario) AND in Gmod!

When Mario 64 was decompiled, everyone knew it would mean amazing things for the Mario 64 modding community.
Now, we literally have a DLL file that contains Mario, allowing us to literally mod him into any game.
Just make a mod that tells Mario what he needs to know, and bam!

lol yeah I managed to do a backwards long jump on the underside of the ramp in freespace
It is literally just the decompiled source code from SM64 made into a library, so any strategy you can do in SM64 can be done in this mod.

it is actually possible to get a ROM legally, all you have to do is you have to extract it from the cartridge, you can find some videos online on how to actually do it

you actually can get a legal rom of sm64 by using something like a Retrode to take the rom from an actual copy of sm64 that you have
