The Dee-Fence as a unit needs to step it up. I believe they will, the defense of staff they have and all the experience that comes with it. Just gotta be good and continue to get better as the game and season goes along. Excited that SC football is bacc!!! FightOn..✌🏽
You do have to have coaches and a culture that’s intentional to value and coach unselfishness on teams that have talented super players and a lot of 4 and 5 star guys. Otherwise, the natural default is for those kind of players to try to do too much and “shine”.
Leverage, angles, low hips square shoulders, you know basic fundamentals, are being taught to every position group by this defensive staff! And the teachers just happen to have elite credentials! This will be a really good TEAM defense! And there is more than one breakout candidate on the D-line! The depth in the interior is a possible seven deep and with talent at its best in the Riley era! Just at NT and DT. I’m not even talking about the DE depth and talent!
Not one offensive unit is going to single out Bear Alexander and say we must double team him until someone else makes a play. This is not Pop Warner! Maybe a team blocking scheme that will identify a lot of strengths and weaknesses of the opponent. So there will be many times a game where Bear is left in a 1v1 situation in both the run and pass game. If Pepe, Clifton, Meyer, Lucas, Muhammad, and others do what they are being coached, they will either make the play and get the stat, share the stat, or Bear will! A little run on sentence but you get the point .
