Romani in Russia historically were in high demand for the entertainment of Russian aristocracy. Russian literature is full of scenes with singing and dancing Romani: Pushkin, Lermontov, Turgenev, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky all included them. Piriev( Пыръев)’s film “ Brothers Karamazov” full of parties with Gypsies. There is nothing more exhilarating and painful.
