    Niiiiice, this is the best quality real hardware version of Le Mans 24 I've seen on TH-cam.

      Thanks mate.
      I'm using:
      Model 3 > GBS-8200 > Neet upscaler > Blackmagic Intensity Pro.
      The Gonbes GBS-8200 and Neet upscaler introduce a little video and sound interference, the Blackmagic Intensity Pro which is a bit picky with resolutions so I have to use the Neet to upscale to 720p/1080p. So, I've bought another capture card (Magewell pro capture HDMI) which will hopefully give better results as I can then hopefully take the Gonbes and Neet out of the chain.
      Thanks for the comment.

    Love the samples in this track's BGM.
    "Get on-- Get on the floor!"
    "We always get together and we do something."

      Yeah, it's a great soundtrack for sure, especially since it uses samples and chip tunes when compared to other Sega games of the time that use WAV/MP3 files!
      The way it transtitions into a new song is great.

      I can't recall ever seeing LeMans 24 in an arcade, but having played it in Supermodel with some of my racing wheels, the controls are not half-bad. Plus racing as the little blue Hedgehog mascot himself in a buggy? Genius.
      I know currently in Supermodel the music isn't as accurate due to SCSP problems, but believe it or not, I managed to fix all this last month by replacing the code, and hopefully Ian adds it to the official emulator lineup.

      @@ConversusVans I can't remember seeing the machine in the wild either.
      The drift mechanic even though it's a bit rough around the edges is still interesting. Whats really strange is the choice Sega made not allowing any lap records to be saved on the PCB. Also having the 'Special' car option in service mode is a bit baffling.
      Well done for sorting out the music issues!
      I've not tried Supermodel in ages. I'm hoping the network code will be sorted soon as I'd like to play multiplayer SpikeOut with some friends in other countries.
      Thanks.

    oh and:
    Insert coin(s) Press (and hold) the break pedal down. Push Start. Select a course At the car selection screen, highlight "Nismo", the vehicle on the far left. Hold Zoom-in + Zoom-out while pushing down on the accelerator. Release the brake pedal.
    good luck with the Porsche ^^/

      Thanks man.
      My SR2 cab only has the loom for one view change button, so I can't select the Porsche. It's a lot of work to fit new cabling, so I'll try it later when I have the project Scud Race or Daytona 2 cab running. 8-)
      Thanks.

    Lol: in the arcade, the Mazda has 6 gears... while in real life it only had 5 (so where most of the others in the Group C)

    To drift, you just brake and then accel, like in Ridge Racer. Your tyres go a fiery blue.
    To reach the speeds stated on the transmission screen, you need to select a special car in the test menu and then once you pick that car you'll go much faster. I don't know why they did this. It's a bit of a con otherwise.

      Thanks for the comment.
      Man, I just tried what you suggested and it's like a whole different game now, it's so much more enjoyable to play! :-) Previously when playing the game I was wondering why the heck the car was going so much slower than other replays on TH-cam. I was considering swapping out the pedals for another set I have in storage and adjusting them so full accel is set higher than it is now.
      It's really strange why Sega chose to include an option de-tune the cars like that. When 'special car' is turned off, this game is nowhere near as fun to play as it is when compared to 'special car' option turned on.
      Maybe Sega thought giving arcade operators that option would make people play the game more? If they didn't turn it on then I would have thought less people would have played the game due to it being pretty slow paced.
      And why not include an option to have all cars as the special car, surely the special car option affects multiplayer too? What a strange decision......
      Anyway, I really appreciate your comment mate. I'll enjoy learning how to play this game now it's nicer to play. :-)
      Thanks.

    i'm curious, did they recycled tha Outrun Checkpoint sound effect? lol

  • @goukipau
    @goukipau 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You have to let go very shortly off the accelerator just before the bumps on the straights, then directly accel again to maintain speed. ^^

    • @icuk7
      @icuk7  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I watched another video and noticed that technique.
      Did you play this game much Patser? I never played LeMans in the Arcades, but even after 20 years it's an interesting game!

    • @goukipau
      @goukipau 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiii IC, lol you recognized me, I just saw your vids this week, while i was looking for nostalgia (SR2). Cool you made your own cabinet man!
      On Le Mans 24, well I did play it so now and then, but more for fun, and only the 24h track. I merely used the Porsche 917 for lap times. Did you know there will fly an UFO by once you broken the ingame lap record?! Oh and I didn't take it seriously, cause of the reason every next day in my arcade the Le Mans 24 record lists were reset... Im pretty sure this was the cabinet, and not the personel doing it. It was really strange, so that's why I never bothered. It just seemed, the cabinet 'didn't have a save records functionality...(?)

    • @icuk7
      @icuk7  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How can I forget Patser Paul Gouki? lmao
      So that what the UFO means, I had a hunch that what it was but couldn't verify it.
      Yeah I noticed the fastest laps don't save on this game, what a strange decision not to save the laptimes. I thought it was the battery on the game needed replacing.
      It's also strange that to get the advertised speed you need to change something in the service options, whoever designed the features in this game made some strange decisions.
      I just play this game for fun too, it's a cool game but is very difficult to complete the game on 1 credit. The tyres wear and the engine gets damaged if you crash into things too often.

    Its hard to tell but it looks like they might have got a little lazy on this one. Its the only SEGA 90s racer I never played but it doesn't look like it has the same quality as their other racers.

    • @icuk7
      @icuk7  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the handling isn't as polished as other Sega racers of the era, not sure if it was the team who programmed it, hardware limitations or time constraints. At times this game feels a bit like a tech demo for day to night and back to day transitions/lighting effects.
      I think the music is awesome though, the way it transitions to the next song is very clever. Every game the songs are in a different order too, and they don't appear to be MP3/WAV tracks either.
      It just feels like it needed a bit of TLC to elevate it up a notch. Ah well.....

  • @micolino83
    @micolino83 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    nah, compared to scud race this game looks really poor IMHO if you consider both are using the same hardware

    • @icuk7
      @icuk7  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do agree Scud Race is the better looking game overall, but Lemans has lighting that transitions from day to night and to day again. That is such a big resource on this older hardware.
      Thanks for the comment. :-)
