This is my 4th year paving ... it’s gonna tear me up over the years but this shits addicting you get to play with machines all day the smell of asphalt from that first dump into the paver just gets me hyped I love my job wouldn’t trade it for anything
YES! Just on time! I'm interviewing driving a truck hauling asphalt and concrete to job sites for a company and this gives me an overview of what the trucker is doing. The main Epiphany I learned is that the asphalt machine pushes the truck. Therefore, my worry about idling the truck at a certain ground speed is now unfounded. Just 40 miles from where I live also! I thought I recognized the neighborhood....
@@ConstructionMachineryChannel McCook, IL. No reply yet from the advertisement I answered. 🤷♂️ I am running out of money so if I can't get a dump truck job soon I'm going to have to go back to hauling intermodal containers which I so detest any longer...☹️
@@michaeldunagan8268 Hopefully you hear something soon. If you don't make sure to call around and see if any companies are hiring. If you have the CDL already you should be able to find something. Best of luck bud.
@@ConstructionMachineryChannel Thank you. Just interviewed an hour ago for a dry-ban position. It is like the U.S. Army commercials when I was a kid: cannot get hired without experience but then where do I go to get the experience? That seems to be the way of the land with dump truck. The guy interviewed with today has made me an offer I can't refuse so I likely will go with him. It's home most nights drive in and that's 5:00 have to spend a couple nights in the truck but I can't spend all week cuz I'm renovating my sister's front yard. At least I'm escaping hauling containers.

Appreciate you watching and glad to hear you like the videos. I try to do the best I can at not just setting a tripod in place and hitting record, that gets boring. I'm trying to show all kinds of scenes so that you get an idea of what the entire site looks like from many different angles.
Thanks, appreciate it! We had a nice Thanksgiving, hope you did as well. By the way we changed the name of the channel from "Consctruction Trucks" to "Construction Machinery Channel". I don't want you to think we shut down our channel 👍🏻
I never understand why US machines height adjusters are still screw operated. The same machine in the uk are on the switch. The two I got Bomag and bitellie are worked by switch. I Know years ago we had a 1968 year PF90 on screw height adjustment and that was bloody hard work for the small roads and parking areas in Cornwall. Nice vid and good to see a machine move so fast without obstacles in the way.
Thanks, I can't comment too much about the pavers because I don't know much about them. I was never on a paving crew. Glad you like the video and hopefully someone that is more familiar with these machines will respond too.
No they do have the electronic option here aswell but most everyone here prefers to use a screw guess were just a little bit more manly here lol I've never once thought spinning the screw was tough

First thing to do is contact a local company and get on a crew. Have a good work ethic and let them know that eventually you want to get on the machines. Best of luck to you
Good luck with that most company’s already have crews and anyone who wants to run anything won’t because there’s already people there and there not gonna downgrade just for to it’s sad best way to make money start your own business only people who make money are bosses
As an observer and a consumer (driver), too many times they do a half-assed job of leveling and smoothing the base or milling the old asphalt correctly. That machine can only do as good a job as the surface it is applying the asphalt on, in my opinion. It's like applying paint to a rusty surface or a sanded surface. The imperfections will "telegraph" to the surface.
After they removed the old asphalt they had to resurface and level it with white/grey crushed stone. That crushed stone is what is making it look white. Did you like the video?
Beautifully done.Tough job but the best industry to work with.Coming from a person who had experience in road construction.Thank you for the video.Still learning,.
Is is needed if they milled right down to the gravel? Isn't binder all that is needed without the tack? I'm not an asphalt guy so any direction is appreciated.

And I forgot to say nice cut off for the operator
Paver Operator is fairly rough on that machine. Lazy too. Switch sides and follow your corners.

What is the base your paving over it looks white on camera?
Screed men are awesome the Rakers are doing nothing😂
It does look really white probably because of the bright sun and my camera setting.
Good job friend.....keep fighting!
Thanks, asphalt pavers are impressive machines 👍
Slow paver down lift wings on hopper up when truck exits lower wings bring next truck in increase speed again , always moving never stopping
Thanks for watching my friend 👍

How does one get a job in this type of work?
Call up some local companies and tell them you want to work for them. After that you can work your way onto one of the pavers.

Amazing amazing and amazing
I absolutely agree with you, these machines and workers are amazing to watch!
Good video friends 🤩

why is there 2 muffler on the machine one small one big?
One is an exhaust pipe for the motor, and the larger one is a pipe for the fune extractor that sucks the smoke out of the hopper of the machine.

No binder Tack coat?
Ok so this is a base course on top of subbase (MOT type 1)
Where is this?
In a southwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
What about the fumes, bet they can’t be good for those working
The fumes probably aren't good over a long period of time. This is not an easy job by any means.

Not bad money to start, stick with it and try to start operating a machine like a skid steer or roller.
