- 2013，12，28., 2013 K-1_MAX, Saenchai PKSaenchaimuaythaigym (thailand ), the best muay thai fighter in world( 65kg and 60kg) he won the Lumpinee Championship title in four different weight divisions, along with the WMC and WBC World titles, while mostly fighting above his natural weight; therefore he is considered one of the best pound for pound Muay Thai fighters in the world.

I do agree that Hongxing won. Seanchai is a great fighter as we all know but he couldn't play his own game in this fight. I'm no fan of both of these fighters, but I could see that Hongxing had studied Seanchai very well. He was following his gameplan, especially in the first round. Pressure boxing works really well against Seanchai, that is IF you don't fall for his sneaky tricks which gave him many K.O.'s in the past.
There's a discrepancy between offence and effective offence that should be discussed for judges. I don't know if you counted hits that landed, that there was a big difference within each round. A lot of what Kong HongXin throws really is bouncing off Saenchai's guard and shoulder. I would say Saenchai, when he threw, was hitting cleaner, but Kong was throwing more power shots and making it into a brawl. Kong was basically fighting like Ky Hollenbeck back in Glory 12.
While I'm kinda leaning toward Saenchai, this was by no means a robbery. Saenchai output was really low, not really asserting himself in the fight. That does count for something in a judge's eye.
Senchai looked more like a trainer, showing superb skill, maturity, and strength. Kong looked equally strong and aggressive, but his fighting skill was largely limited to hand punches, along with poor defense. Judges' decision: Hmm.
I guess they were scoring this based on 1) how loud you can scream and yell 2) how many missed and glancing blows you land and 3) how many times you got dropped on your back..if that's the case, Chinese dude definitely dominated.

saechai definitely lost the game, no matter what excuse u put in or you dont like to see the result!
Too bad it was a decision. Even if saenchai can take all those hits, those were still scored. Plus sweeps don't count in K1. I don't know what happened in the first two rounds but saenchai isn't as aggressive. He could have won, and that's what makes this bitter for me.
@@wonderors Saenchai would have lost even more under Unified Sanda-MT rules where throws count.

Saenchai landed significantly more clean shots than Kong. Very few of Kong's shots really connected. Bad decision.

I actually agree with the judging. I had them 1 round each going into round 3. Then Saenchai scored more while Kong did more damage with the bigger shots. Basically an even round. I thought Saenchai lost his rythme in the extra round and Kong did enough to win it.
The MC was told that the Chinese guy is decided to win so at the end of round 3 he didn't wait for the scorecard and announced he won.....but it turned out the referees want one more round maybe they think that may not be convincing? Whatever, this is a robbery...
Don't know why but saenchai rly going low in this fight, the Chinese guy was aggressive definitely, but in terms of effectiveness, saenchai wouldve done better with more aggressive attacks. But of course in this case he lost, which makes me kinda sad but it's the fact.

Yeah Saenchai is not meant for K-1. I was worried the moment i read the title. He's too short and he doesn't know how to use distance for kickboxing. He would do much better in Muay Thai rules. I do not agree with him entering k-1 style kickboxing.

muaythai fighter avoid punch by clinching, it 's natural and effective. In K1 they had to block and punch or kick back.... for me it 's not natural instinct, it 's just exist because they use big gloves !

I rewatched this after reading comments here saying they believe Saenchai should have won. As much as I like Saenchai, even the second time I watched it, I feel like it was a pretty close match with the chinese boy having the upper hand and landed the hardest punches on Saenchai. Saenchai definitely did not appear dominant in this fight like many of the other ones I've watched. Despite Saenchai seems to exhibit more skills, I think Saenchai lost this one by a small margin. Regardless, it is one of the best fights I've seen. Non stop punches and kicks from both sides.

Kong doesn't do MT, he does Sanda, so why would he fight under full Thai rules?

Saenchai is the legend, the master but...
It's the second fight where he - the legend - fights with some unknown, random guy from China and... he has problem with winning. He don't dominate, etc. Strange. There must be something in this sanda style fighters that he can't "fit to", "find the rhytm"...
I think its more "business" than ability. And this isn't meant to imply anything bad with Saenchai not that the China figher "sucked"... but I think Saenchai understood the value of entertainment and the market and deliberately let the fight drag out a bit. As an alternate thought : If Saenchai believed Kong was physically less fit and would go "all out" the first round, then why not let Kong use up his energy. Whist Kong looked better first round (as a guess)he didn't really do much damage to Saenchai.
Saencahi did win this fight in my opinion. Although it was very close. All the sweeps that Saenchai pulled off don't score in K-1 rules, it looks good and it looks like he dominates, but if you're judging the fight those sweeps don't score. Hongxin was definitely pushing the pace most of the fight, and he was really letting the hands go. Hongxin threw some nice hand combos finishing with a kick, but if you watch the fight again you see that a lot of those punches do not land. In that last round Saenchai landed some nice heavy switch kicks, and had good defense against Hongxin's hands and Saenchai was able to counter with some really good straight punches. Power wise it was easy to see the advantage was to Saenchai, both for kicks and hands. Therefore, in my opinion Saenchai wins. It is noteworthy to add that if it was Muay Thai this fight would have been done in 3 rounds or less.

I'd say in terms of power and punching and overall jus feel of the overall match Kong won.
Saenchai in the first 20-30 seconds of the fight looked typical and dominant as he usually is against fighters Kong's size. Kong was playing into saenchais timing and technique and mind game dominance.
But Kong did something else that most fighters would usually never dare, he disrespected saenchais reputation and just use his his advantage and reach and just throw good punches to saenchais face. It's not like other people haven tried this in the past, it's just Kong has some serious punching and and raw athleticism in his hands too. They were fast, confident and extended, powerful punches in bunches that completely threw off saenchai's usual timing and rhythm.
Saenchai had to widen his stance, pull up his guard and rely on lots of left hand leads to weather Kongs punching.
Saenchai did show he was the more skilled of the two (pound for pound) however. He had much better timing, much crisper technique, and pulled off some amazing moves against the pressure of kong that long probably could never pull off. If saenchai were the same size enough to get the reach and strength the same as long then saenchai would've been the better fighter.
But what you see is what you get and saenchai isn't excused from this loss because he usually fights Thai CHAMPIONS about the size of Kong and does well. And Kong is only 19.....19.... I don't particularly like the Chinese sanda/sanshou style nor do I I even like Kongs face (the dude is butt-ugly, and I'm asian btw so I'm not being racist) but props to Kong for his obvious potential.
Kong was smart and pressured the smaller saenchai and used his talented punching capabilities against saenchai, and forced saenchai to play dirty and ugly; uglier than he's ever had to play. He didn't respect for saenchai's style and went in and threw not only bombs, but well-placed and fast shots.
Saenchai is still the better fighter pound-for-pound to me because he's more skilled and versatile for his weight and obviously shows he has better timing and lands more cleanly an frequently than Kong; it's just Kong used his speed, young athleticism, ugly pressure, and good hands to win the fight. Props to the 19 year old.
Saenchai, let's go back ad fight to guys ur size to gain back some respect and stop taking fights with guys bigger than you. You're getting too old and these Guys are onto you now at bigger weights.
Kong lets see you fight some other thai guys your own size to warrant this win. For the time being, you have massive potential at 19. You did earn this win (sadly for me since I'm such a huge saenchai fan :/ )

But yes the size is over-whelming. i notice alot of these southpaw counter fighters dont look as spectacular when theyre fighting someone like them that equals theyre speed in punching....Man if this was Thai rules he would have fucked that kid up more than that haircut did.

So was the Saenchai the legend of muay thai that is bound to beat Buakaw? I think not he struggled to beat this 19 year old guy. All Saenchai did was use his quick takedown technique. Also he lost the 3 round fight but the Chinese just wanted to punish Saenchai since they know he got nothing. Saenchai dont have good technique for taller opponent.
sanchai could never beat buakaw.. they are of different weight classes anyway.. so you can't compare them.. unless they have at least 1 weight class difference..
