That's dope! Never knew what the guts of the PenC looked like. I modded the screen, buttons and shell of my Pen20th and accidentally ripped the speaker cords. Now my Digimon are silent protagonists 😂
I'm planning on releasing a video of my modded DM Color, any chance you'd be okay with me linking over to this video as an example of one of the places I used to help me figure it out? I wasn't sure how okay it was to share this sort of information out and didn't want to rub anyone the wrong way!
Some of them are the Original Backgrounds from the Digimon Version 1-5, others are unlocked by meeting certain requirements on the device. The final ones are the Pendulum Wave 2 backgrounds which implies we’ll be getting those in Color soon!
This is a tricky one. Dumps aren’t normally shared around because that would be piracy. You’ll probably have to sail the seas to a discord server or something to find one 🏴☠️
Do I need to take it apart inorder to install mods or can I just connect it to my computer threw the charging cable?trying to unlock slot 6 to get jellymon on my deep savers
In order to mod this device you will need to open it to access the chip on the front of the board unfortunately. Jellymon can be unlocked by battling any other PenC device, best to use an ACom if no one near you has a PenC
An ACom (Alpha Communicator) is a custom made device used to connect vpets through the internet. There’s plenty of info about them around online and some people even sell pre-made ones!
bro, ma nature spirits divice drope of off ma table, no a high fall and the fkng screen got these pixel line's on it now, not enjoyable to use. any idea's ? are these screens replaceable ?
A replacement screen is definitely possible… I’d say make sure the small ribbon cable connecting the screen to the board is connected properly. It could be that the drop caused the cable to dislodge. If you need to replace the screen, you need a TCXD011IBLON-3 LCD display. Where you can get one, however, I do not know. Hope this helps!
Mine has yet to arrive. I might toy around with it, but I'll need to see what I like and dislike about it first. Keep an eye out for my video on it, just in case 😉
A very good question! You can take the data from any device From the DMC1 to the PenC Zero and put it onto a different device. There was once a guy who put 2 devices onto one chip but you’re very limited by the memory size of the chip itself plus you’ll need to do some coding to be able to switch between version when you turn the device on. That’s all beyond my abilities 😅

Ew, spi ribbon cable display? Not getting one of these. The battery not being taped down is fine (preferred even, for repairability). If youve ever taken apart a cellphone the build principles are 100% the same across the board, theres nothing against industry standards about this device. Its crazy to me how incapable so many vpet owners are when it comes to modding tech. You showed how easy this is and people still out here dogging their own skills saying they cant do such a simple task. There is no easier first electronics project than modding a v pet, even making an arduino blink is more tedious and time consuming, so i dont see how its such a barrier to people.
I think it’s more that people aren’t necessarily confident enough to take apart a device that Bandai only create a limited amount of. If the devices were more readily available I’d absolutely recommend anyone who wants to get into modding, coding, or customisation as a whole to go with one of these or the DMC. But price point alone is enough to put people off, so I do understand both sides of the argument. Good to know that the battery being taped down is fine, I guess I was just expecting a slightly stronger adhesive for something that you’re meant to shake a lot 😅
@@NichiNoUchuu I'm even referring to the DM20 here. I just got mine last week and I've seen probably a few hundred comments across various mod videos of people proclaiming their fear to take their devices apart. In the few days I've had it, I've already drilled my case to boost the speaker, painted the case, swapped the background to a clear one to see the board underneath, soldered an LED to the speaker, I'm working on sourcing an EL panel display to add a backlight, and then soon I'm going to add a switch with a second oscillator to add an overclock feature. I'm genuinely bad with electronics and this is literally the second thing I've ever soldered and it's going great. Many Digimon fans didn't really learn the confidence the shows were trying to instill, I guess. Need more videos like this with comments telling everyone how easy and empowering it is to mod and repair your own tech.
@Atmatan_Kabbaher I do know what you mean, I see a lot of people who don’t want to open their devices out of fear of damaging the device, but there are hundreds of people in the community who do! If you’re looking in the right places, people are modding their devices left right and centre. Bandai are pretty strict on it so a lot of people aren’t public with it but it is happening. And some people just don’t want to stray from the vanilla experience, which is totally fine too. At the end of the day, people can enjoy their VPets and Digimon as a whole any way they like, we’re all Digidestined together 💜

Not that I’m aware of, the chip is big enough for 2 rosters maybe but not all of them unfortunately
