Push Industries and Unior Tools Fork Seal Drivers - They're all the same, right?!

  • Pretty specific video showing the difference between two fork seal drivers and why perhaps the Push Industries version is better than most out there. Yes, it costs more, but in this video you'll see that if I had bought it to begin with, I'd have saved a few dollars.
Short version: The Push Industries is stepped so that you can't drive the flangeless seals beyond the tops of the lower legs. As far as I know, other seal drivers, including the Unior tools one, don't accommodate this. In addition, the relief channel on the Push version is larger so that the top of the fork seal and energizing spring doesn't get crushed as you hammer it into the lowers.
In the long run, doing my own lower leg service will save me more than taking it to a shop, so I'm glad I learned how to do this. Unfortunately (or fortunately) this lesson cost me about $60 more than it needed to.
