    I see you had your dog out in one of the first clips, looking out the window. How did you do it? Every where I’ve looked it says you must have your dog in the carrier, which I’m pretty sad about because I know my dog would enjoy sleeping on my lap and looking out the window

    Thank you for this super helpful and informative video ! Do they always weigh the bag at the airport ? (Because for example for the cabin luggage they never weigh it.)

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am happy that you liked it! Honestly I thought they weigh it every time, but when we came back nobody asked to even weigh Sami 😃 Let alone the bag. They took one look at him and probably assumed he can't be over the limit and they let us through, it was very nice of them! 😍 So I guess sometimes they do, sometimes they don't!

    Do you ever have any problems with Sami parking on a flight? I think that is my biggest worry if I take mine on holiday. My dog won't use the pads now since he's an adult. I think he gets embarrassed. Good idea taking them into the bathroom. Although my Westie has been chipped, I'm thinking of doing the pet DNA available now.

    I live in the US and to get a health certificate was pretty expensive like 500$. I don’t know how much is the passport, but I believe that’s pretty expensive.

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The passport was around €30 (I don't remember exactly). Obviously, the shots and vaccines cost, as well, but they would cost some money even if you don't have the passport. $500 is A LOT.

    Buna! Te urmaresc de putin timp, insa am vazut ca nu are pretentii la bobitele pe care i le dai. Imi poti spune si mie te rog ce anume folosesti ? Am incercat o multime de brand-uri..

      Buna! 😊 E destul de pretentios, se plictiseste repede, dar incerc sa schimb mancarea o data la 2-3 luni. Alternez intre Hills Derm Complete si Hills d/d (amandoua sunt pentru probleme de piele). Ii dau brand-ul asta cam de 2 ani si e foarte ok, analizele ii ies bine si din tot ce stiu e de calitate buna.

    I have a question, can the dogs head be out of the bag the whole time?

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends a lot on the flight attendants. We were lucky that Sami was able to keep his head out of the bag on most flights, even come out of his bag, but normally airlines don't allow that.
      Sometimes the flight attendants will just look the other way or other times they even smile when they see him, but for example if a flight is full, they might be more strict with the rules and ask that the bag be fully closed.
      So the general rule is no, dogs can't have their head out of the bag, but sometimes you can get lucky :)

    Hello :) sami is so cute. We are hoping to move abroad but our worry is putting our sogs in cargo we all want them both with us one is a westie the other a westie cross cairn terrier. They both had surgery which caused weight gain so we know they would be over 8kilos but can talk to the vet to see if theres a better diet etc for them as we wouldnt move instantly so would want to do things safely etc they are both getting older and never travelled on a plane. But if we do move it will be permanently so of course we would want them with us. And it will be a one of plane ride knowing how nervous our westie is if he cant see us so we would never want the cargo option. I followed your link for the larger black carrier bag on amazon please can you tell me what option you went for as says small medium or large to click on i looked at measurements and i think they jave the height and width and length possibly mixed round. Would you be able to tell me which one i get please the same one you got sami as if that was the size bag thats allowed then id like to get the same one and see how it is on our dogs. Im just not sure when i click on the link for the black one if its small medium or large option on amazon? Thank you (sami is sooo cute) x

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I am happy to hear you are looking for ways to take your babies with you in the cabin ❤ About that, I would say talk to the vet and see if it's safe for them to lose weight? And gradually reduce their food, while keeping them monitored to see if they react well. Also, if your Westie is nervous, maybe the vet can recommend some calming pills.
      About the carrier bag, I got mine from a local pet shop but I found it on Amazon and it seems the same bag. However, I checked the measurements and ours is 50cm (length) x 28 cm (width) x 30 cm (height) and the Amazon one size L is 50cm x 26cm x 28 cm. So 2 cm less. But other than that, identical. So size L is the right size. Do check with the airlines to see their size limitations (maybe if they allow a bigger size, you can get a larger bag).
      Good luck and give your pups kisses from Sami!

      Uk doesnt allow us to fly in cabin with dogs in and out of uk only cargo we just found out :( thry dont allow even emotional support dogs our uk law has to be cargo :(

    • @hannahspanna5557
      @hannahspanna5557 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They dont recognise them as needed in cabin only guide dogs and disability dogs are.
      Our westie isnt a disability trained dog but alerts my seizures thry are emoitional support. I have tumor epilepy and spinal fluid leaks and my second one lefr me with complications i have other heslth problems too and they reslly do help me. I just couldnt have them in cargo :(
      It would be a permanent move rather than a holiday as im to unwell but obviously we want to move if dad got offered the job but we thought uk allows them in cabin :(
      Me and mum are so worried and trying to look into other ways its jist such a scary thoight cargo and not knowing if they will survive beimg in cargo. They are always with us in cabin i know they would be fine but in cargo the noises the temperature changes all the things ive heard it scrares me so much.
      And the fact its a long flight and you have no idea until you land how they are if they are still alive.
      They would of only been in the cabin once to move they wouldnt have been on a plane again neither would i because of my heslth its only uf we get the go ahesd with dads job. But them being in cargo its not fair :(

    • @hannahspanna5557
      @hannahspanna5557 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uk only allow guide dogs and disability trained dogs but because hes pur pet although hes just like a epilepsy seizure trained dog they wont count him as one. And uk doesnt allow emoutional support animals to fly out of uk or in on cabin either.
      I have no idea how else we can fly from the uk to america with then in a cabin or other options everything lead back to cargo and me and mum are so stressed as we thought we can have them on plane being emotional support dogs and buying a seat for them we never knew they would have to be in cargo now regardless
      The move would be life changing for the better for my health and we have family there and would be happier but that was with our dogs not putting them at risk i wish they had an area on the plane with like cages and someone like a ve to be able to keep an eye on them its just so scary i dont know if cargo would be safe the noise the temperature to cold or to hot them being stressed i just dont know how scared they would be and if they could survive it is my boggest worry. As i know being with me me and them would be ok :( we want to move but it would be so stressful to have them in cargo.
      We keep looking at other options online from uk to america but always leads back to cargo :(
      If anyone knows a way around them not beinf in cargo and a safer way and where they are 100% looked after or even another way to permanently move to america and stay with them but im just so lost as to other options but i do not want them in cargo it scares me so much 🥺😥😧 xx

      Our westie saved my life during a prologned seizure and woke my parents around 3am they would have found me at 7am and it wouldnt of been good i had been sick during the seizure but was on my back and oxygen was very low i was bluey the dog alerted and kept trying to wake my parents up they said then they realises hes going to them then my room getting them to come then freaked and said had to try get me on my side as had vomit in my mouth and wasnt breathing much and was still in a prolonged seizure i came round in hospital and breathing tube they tild me what he did ever since he alerts them during my seizures and when im unwell and even when im crying hes such a loving caring dog. He keeps me going as life is so hard. And so does our other little one too but outlr boy dog is just like a seizure epilepsy trained dog. But they dont recognose it by law as being a disability dog as he was a pet before i got unwell and he was our puppy. But uk dont allow emotional support dogs only guide dogs and disability trained dogs in cabin. But other countries allow emotional support dogs too :( but emotipnal support dogs here are only allowed to fly in cargo and that is so so scart for us to even think of would they survive it and not knowing how they will react as who knows its nothing they would of experienced before and its a long journey 😧😢
      But they are my best friends and keep me going its so hard to know what to do as know one can hownstly say how they will be or if they would survive but i know them and i know they wouldnt like it and want to be with us and so would i but i dont know if they would survive it i feel they more likely not to but maybe its where i love them so much and its a horrifying feeling what could happen to them. Mums stressed to and dad really thought they could pay ticket and fly them in cabin 🙁 xx
