      Tigran Petrosian was a great player with some great games! Including this one with Qc4! Wishing you a great week Michael!

    Really enjoy this format where you cover a whole game, rather than just the opening. Your discussions about past moves is also very helpful. Thanks!

    Not so long ago I played against this defense, my opponent was weaker, but he confused me. I got a losing position, but won thanks to time. I would like to learn more and try it. Thanks for the video. I am glad your channel is growing up, keep moving 👍

      Ah for sure! Ya the Czech Pirc Defense is a pretty straight forward way for black to fight for equality, and many players as white will get tripped up simply because it is so rare.
      And thanks for the encouragement brotha, more on the way! 🙏🏼🤝

    Not many people seem to talk about move order. This example shows that you can still get to the opening you want if you understand move order. To me it's fascinating.

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! Move order is huge! Move order + realizing when white is playing a chess opening for black but reversed obviously. Both of these are big factors that many simply skip over I think.

      @@TheChessGiant Yes in fact your last hippo video I saw a moment where you could have turned the hippo into a reverse Benoni. Benoni up a tempo is probably an advantage.

    I'm definetly going to start playing d6 in response to d4. Yasser Seirawan did some lectures on a really unique repetoire that he played starting with d4 d6. (Held in Saint Louis, I think)

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ya Yasser Seirawan did great with 1. ...d6! I think he ended up getting a silver medal or some kind of crazy achievement for doing so well in the tournament he played in with it.

    Thanks for those videos Solomon! Pirch and Czech Pirch are my only openings as black. In the beginning of the game, you said that if the opponent plays this and that move is not Pirch anymore. I have never understood how white moves can affect the opening. I mean, I always played those moves with black and I always thought it was a Pirch defense, no matter what white would play. Can you make a video on that one? I am sure many other new chess players have the same confusion: what determines the name of an opening. Thanks so much for those videos on Pirch defense 🙏

    I have been watching this playlist, and so grateful of it.
    Curious, can i play the czech pirc in reverse colors, and how would that go?
    I have been doing it and so far i have seen great results starting with reti opening then pushing out the pawns, sometimes I would go for king indian attack by fianchetto the king side bishop, but I always feel that bishop becomes trapped. Thoughts??

  • @GeorgeEpting
    @GeorgeEpting 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Black had the right ideal but never fulfilled the ideal of a closed position with a attack towards the king win or lose it was not played right and played it the hard way with a closed position which brings me to my jbird opening that is based off of the whole intent is to close the position and move your pieces towards the king,thanks for showing that one❤😊

    I thought that instead of d6, d5 should be played... Nice video, as usual. Thanks.

    • @TheChessGiant
      @TheChessGiant  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ya so d5 is MUCH more popular, with many going for that chess opening line. This often turns into a Queen's Gambit or Blackmar-Diemar Gambit just to name off a couple of possibilites. 1. ...d6 on the other hand invites white to play 2. e4, which transposes us into a Pirc Defense. If they play 2. c4, we have multiple options including Nf6 and e5 which turns into an English Rat Defense. All that to say, I would not recommend 1. ...d6 for a player who doesn't like the Pirc Defense as it is a Pirc Defense invitation!

      @@TheChessGiant Oh! Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated! A course on the Czech Pirc would be awesome. And by the way, I plan to go into your hippo course once I reasonably master the Czech. Thanks for your content, really helpful.
