    Wouldn't using the whole red sticker help if you need to tune it? Would show where the end of the key was when it was in tune.

    what is the difference between the red stickers and green stickers? and why is it good to use them?

    • @rjcovers7105
      @rjcovers7105  4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Hello! There’s really no difference. You can use red only, green only, or use both. It’s just preference. Stickers help in memorizing the position of tines. It’s mainly for people that use kalimba tablatures for playing, but I found that it still helps me even though I use letter notation. Bottomline is it helps develop muscle memory (similar idea to why piano has black keys instead of just having all white). Hope this info helped!

      @@mrsb09 thank you for replying! I found out that my Kalimba was actually in the Key of B, which was why the stickers were different

      That’s awesome! A kalimba usually comes with red and green plain stickers, but I’ve definitely seen people get creative and even use washi tapes.

    My stickers and keys don't say c4. They're all c1

    I honestly don’t get why the stickers are not put at c1, c2, c3 this would help find the octaves better?

      @identitykrisis73 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe use the green one to differentiate for yours. We all have different logic. You'll still learn what your after.

    Very new to the kalimba. May be a silly question, but how do you know where to put the stickers? Thanks for any help! I have a 21 key kalimba in F Major.

    • @rjcovers7105
      @rjcovers7105  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! It’s not a silly question at all. If your Kalimba came with a booklet or any instruction manual, I would check if there is a visual similar to what I’m showing in 1:08 of this video. In any case, the placement is arbitrary. What I did here is just the convention and not by any means the only way to do it.

    Wait- why do you need to add the red stickers? Is it optional? (im sorry if im being dumb)

    • @rjcovers7105
      @rjcovers7105  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! That’s a totally valid question. It is optional. It just helps train your muscle memory on where each note is. I’ve heard of people who remove them once they develop that muscle memory. Hope this helps :)

    Hey um if your own Kalimba doesn’t come with stickers where can you find them, also what book were u using?

    • @rjcovers7105
      @rjcovers7105  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some people use washi tape, which can easily be found in online stores or art stores, but I haven’t seen one that didn’t come with stickers. The book came with the Kalimba as well.

    Why do you need to mark those tho

    • @rjcovers7105
      @rjcovers7105  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It helps differentiate the keys faster. It’s a similar idea as to why piano has black keys and guitar has frets. 😊 A lot of kalimba players remove the stickers once they develop muscle memory.

      not a kalimba player, but i assume it's much the same with markings on some frets in guitar
      in other words, it allows players to quickly identify which chord is which
