- Short notice: Unfortunately I do not take requests on this channel, mainly due to them being time consuming and sadly having a rather busy schedule. However, please enjoy the content I post and thank you for watching!
---------------------------------------------
The final video of the Wash-In, this is his 1980s Hotpoint 18380 Electronic De Luxe, the 2nd 18-series I have seen and the ONLY example of this model in preservation. We run a Long Fast Spin at 800rpm (though the machine clearly is reaching 1000rpm here). Just listen to that amazing torque. I definitely prefer the 18-series to the 95s.
Following this is an update on some things to expect from the channel. We must give Luke a HUGE thank you for having me, and we'll be arranging another meetup soon! :).
This was a great video, especially the updates. It's a damn rotten shame that Chris couldn't help with your washer dryer problem but there's still hope for the future! And i loved seeing that Bosch Classixx 1400 again as i rlly love that machine! And i can't wait for videos of your gang with the new detergents as well! So much to look forward to!
Thank you Noah! Oh Chris did offer to help, he helped with most of the diagnosis on the elements etc, he offered to take her to his and fit a new timer but, I gave up in the end as it was costing too much and not worth all that for something crippled and not entirely the model I wanted. So, we'll be looking again for one.
Me too, that Bosch is an excellent machine, always look forward to filming it when I go up there. So much indeed to look forward to :) so, stay tuned haha :P
Our first automatic washing machine and tumble dryer were Hotpoint from that range. My parents bought
them second hand in 1986 and the washing machine lasted until 1995 and the dryer was in use until 2001
or 2002 but my Dad took the dryer to the dump in late 2003 because it burned clothes even on a low setting.
The main cabinet seems to be one piece and everything is serviceable by completely removing the back panel.
Some older washing machines were designed like that.
I’m definitely starting to love the 18 series more than the 95 series, they have much more character and that torque is insane! My second dream machine is a liberator but I can see that becoming my 1st 😧 nice video btw :)
Lovely 18380 !!! love that door! proper smart!
thanks for the update buddy! appreciate it! we loving every single bit of content!
Think these are my favourite range, along with the liberators ❤️
Mine too, I think they look, sound and are more aesthetically better than the 95-series and follow-on range
Awesome machine will u be getting more of them in the future to add to you're collection
Yes, I will be getting more machines in the future
2:16 jeez thats violent. Probably pulled 8G right there
It made me jump out of my skin! The 18-series definitely do have a lot more torque to their motors and speed controllers

Very observant of you Brandon re the spin speed. You are correct. Many of the 18 series Hotpoints with 800 spin actually reached 1000. Many years ago someone told me why but I can’t remember now.,
By the way they also span 1000 fully loaded, just took a bit longer to get there 🤣
Haha thank you Nick! Yes, my ears are very observant and sensitive to sound/pitch change, most machines I'm able to recognise the motor pitch to each spin speed and judge by the machine's rotations or vibration. I believe the 95s/18 series do it because there is no regulator on the speed module, compared to the WM-Range which are able to hold their speed (an example being my Casatta which had a resistor to hold her at 1100rpm, which I removed to make the machine go to 1200rpm).
There are however, many machines that seem to spin faster than they designate, Whichwasher2007 has had a few, and I've come across 1 other in my time too.
One thing about these old Hotpoints that the motor is mounted on the top
Indeed, which makes them one of the most easiest to repair, aleit increasing the noise level
@@HooverA3060 Yep one downside matter the fact that the motor is on the top there is another weight on the bottom wicth means you end up with a heavier washing machine
Was this model 1988 ish
No, the 18-series were way before that, this is early 1980s. 1988 is the 95X4 models
Thats a great start to a spin, but the previous generation of Hotpoint - the Liberator, starts even better sounding, like a jet engine powering up to full power, now that is what I call a serious spin start: here is a clip of what I mean th-cam.com/video/yuZn4UOk3dE/w-d-xo.html
i can tell you to yhe click what the machine was going to do. 6 fast turns 6 slow 6 fast clock moved from 2 to 5. 6 f clicks 6 slow clicks 6 fast click turns to 7. no spin after the wash. 3 rinses and long spin. pressing wool wash cancels all fast turns. prog 6. happy days.
tick tock clicks and programme selector moves every 12 tick tocks.
